	Monster chatlogs Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

I tried to read through the "Monster Chatlog" with CFC. However, I have not all time in the world (I'm at work), and I think this is a bit too much for me at 9 AM. The log is huge.

Now, I think it's a good idea to post the full transcript of all logs, but is it possible to post a short (3 lines or so) summary of what has been discussed/concluded in the chat? This would make life much easier for me!

(edit: before someone goes making silly remarks: with "Monster chatlogs" I mean extensive logs, not chats with Monsters, be they Big and Furry or not.)

I would have liked to make one "summary" thread to start discussion on what was negotiated in the chat to serve as a basis for an official poll shortly after.

But some people apparently feel the need to make polls and more polls before we even discuss this stuff. True to my christmas spirit I shall start a discussion thread tomorrow because I am tired, getting sick, and getting sleepy atm.

I know that Arnelos is very good about that, but he wasn't there.....

If someone could condense it down for us, that would be nice.

Hmmm, maybe we need a Official Admin Assistant to the Consuls/Ministers to take minutes and make summeries. They can do both the meeting channel and the private channel.

E_T I don't think that is necessary. Monster chats like the one today eventually end up being discussed. The problem is that given the current situation it seems we are jumping to decisions and voting without having a decent discussion. Usually we end up discussing major chats the following day and this time will be no exeption, also, sometimes were are just too tired to start new threads immediately after over 2 hours of chatting.

One additional problem is that the chatlog that was posted was only the main channel and did not include the chat that was taking place in #apolytonisdg.

Some of the "behind the scenes" decisions and rationale for what was said and what was being argued about was done in that channel.

Heh. I had the same reaction as BFM to that chatlog. "There's NO WAY I'm reading that whole thing right now. It's X-Mas Eve and I still have work to do!"

Summarizing a log isn't too hard. Afterall, if you do it at the same time as you're going to post the log, everything is fresh in your mind. You can include parts of the internal discussion as needed.

Summeries should be posted before an entire log is put up. Also, when things are discussed in out Private chatroom, a lot of times, people have stated that they will post about it the next day (as it's getting too late or some other thing - I'm at much at fault as several others...). If they are fresh, then some summery should be posted.

Again, having a 'Admin Asst' position to help do these things would be a great assistance.

What's the problem? Yes the chat log is long, but not that long. I read it all. My take? Simple. It sounded like a lovefest. There didn't even appear to be much contension over the border issue.

Actually, it sounded just like what happens in RL when the heads of state have their photo-op meetings. Everybody agrees to what has been hammered out behind closed doors by the working level diplos.

Well, I AM trying to be as nice about it as possible.

But After reading the things that were said in the private channel, I was really becoming concerned for your sanity. This is a genuine concern, from one human to another at it's lowest level to the level of one freind about another.

Also as a member of this team, it does not make for a healthy participation if I have to subject myself to hours of one persons diatribe to get to the heart of the matter being discussed, which is of more concern to me than most others (being MoI), because of having to make the plans that will move us forward.

I, at least try to respect the others, who would read this, besides the person that I'm discussing. It might be veiled and a lot of people will have know who I was talking about, but then there are people who are here and don't really know what does go on behind the scenes, so they wouldn't know who I was talking about.

And Yes, BF, you really do need to get a grip. Take some time off, get layed, do something. But get yourself back together, because, you ARE a valuable member of this team and we do want you to make a proper contribution to it.

This is CERTAINLY the best advice I have seen at Apolyton in a LONG time.
