The turnchat was a success. We got only a few turns done, but there were some major things happening...

End 775BC

Galleys shuffle about.
We can now build the FP

750 BC
2 New workers set to work
Settler sent to Sth Isle to found city on East coast
Worker lands near Raiding Base to improve terrain

End 750BC

Persians land settling party + warrior West of FoG
New Vet Spear in New Asgard and Vet Archer in Ring of Vikings
Egyptians start on Great Wall

730BC

With the risk of Persian settlement again and the potential to bop their settler, we start planning on defending our western shores from Immortals.

The Galley near the Sth Isle drops off a settler + Archer to found a new city on the East coast, and then, with the Archers originally planned to be used in training against barbs on the island to our East needed against the Persians, we decide to explore the Sth Isle further with the Galley. The end of the island is seen. Not much else...

This turn we get NA up to 5 pop and 10spt, but it must be shortlived as NA will grow again shortly and go into disorder, even with the MP and Temple! We decide to build a second Spear and then a settler. Another settler will be built in Ring of Vikings.

End 730 BC

As feared, that Persian settler builds Sidon on the hill where it landed. The Galley stations in the city along with the warrior. A second Persian Galley appears even further East on our lands. They are colonising us! The Egyptian Galley that has been wandering about lands a settler + warrior on the Sth Isle next to the one we will use to build a city next turn. We got here first!

France builds Great Library

710BC

We hatch the plan to see if we can get an alliance with one of the other civs against Persia to help us if/when we attack. We have 814 gold and are gaining +22gpt.

Embassies with both Egypt and Spain are founded. Egypt is in their GA and is at war with Spain, Both Spain and Egypt have ROPS with Persia, and refuse to ally against them.

More exploration of the Sth Isle reveals another Horse - 3 Horses and plenty of forest + grass! Wow! We found a city in the face of the Egyptian settler that just landed. The default name is 'Build More Boats' - at BFM for his twisted sense of humour. We stick to that.

That's it.

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

My thoughts...

It seems that our initial idea of attacking Persia to drive them off, perhaps even sabotaging their Iron with our warrior on the Galley near them would not be wise, seeing as they have ROPs with both Egypt and Spain and we may end up in a 3-front war.

What I would suggest in light of the recent exploration of the Sth Isle is that we focus on the Spanish. Strategically their lands are full of bottlenecks, as I have posted before, and we can land Galleys anywhere we need to cut them off. Economically the Sth Isle is becoming more and more interesting the better the land looks (and 3 Horses!), so we should aim to take it - and kick the Spanish off. Wonder-wise they have the Lighthouse, which could be invaluable on a largely sea map. Diplomatically we can ally with Egypt against them for as little as 84 gold. Militarily they can't get their GA before Sistine's, Egypt (our potential ally) is IN their GA and the Spanish do not yet have Horses hooked up.

So what says everyone? We need to take someone on sometime, and with Persia occupying some of the parts of our lands (admittedly parts that would be very corrupt), we should plan for sooner rather than later.

Now that the shock of the Persian intrusion has worn off, I think we should go after Spain.

They have iron, so we'd need to be careful. But we should be able to cripple them with a couple of well planned attacks.
