Drugs: The warm blanket on a cold day or... Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

...the Long Dark Night of the Starchild.

So here's the fun of my Monday night. I come home freezing cold from work because no taxis were available. Wet and cold but hey, I laugh it off. After all, the night's over isn't it?

Oh, it isn't.

A very good friend of mine is on MSN and, to use the vernacular, rat arsed. Absolutely blind drunk. He tells me he's going to his girlfriend's house, who only lives around the corner from me.

Seems that on the way, the combination of Guiness and wine catches up to the lad. So at 2 a.m., when he's kicked out by his girlfriend's dad because of all the noise his vomiting was making, he finds himself unable to get back home, it's icy cold and it's starting to rain. What is a boy to do?

Remember that his idiot friend lives nearby.

So I get a call asking if he can stay the night. I say sure, thinking that all he needs is to sleep it off. I get a spare duvet and pillow set up on my bedroom carpet. Like I'm going to all the trouble to set up a bed at 2:30 a.m. He arrives, goes upstairs, and promptly is sick out of my window.

Followed by going to the bathroom and promptly passing out on the floor.

Followed by me semi-carrying him back to my room where he is sick again into a bucket that's right next to my head. I sleep on a futon people, I was eye level to the puke.

I got in total, 2 hours of sleep. I had oh so much fun explaining the situation to my family this morning as my friend dragged himself out my door and off to work. And I get the fun of seeing him again tonight! Yay me.

My solution to this state of tired, simmering hatred I've got going on? Two cups of strong (organic fairtraded!) Arabica coffee mixed with hot chocolate and Kaluhua coffee liquor.

So as the combination of caffiene, ethanol, and flavouriods hit my bloodstream, opening up synaptic pathways that lead to the sweet spot, I'm reminded of the best advice I ever heard.

Chemicals make everything better.

Share your misery! I love company.

Well, people who enjoy drinking poison have negative effects, when held in a 'friend'-status.

I wouldn't get all depressed, you helped someone when he was in a trouble, if he's a friend of yours, he will pay it back -- somehow.

My friend has to spend 8 hours frying burgers with a hangover. I doubt he has much of any opinion beyond the urge to kill himself.

Personally I'd give the bastard a bill for care services.

That means he won't repeat the stunt until he pays it... which is unlikely.

I'm not saying you should have kicked him out or been anything but understanding at the time - but this child sound's like he's got a LOT of growing up to do.

The sad thing is he has matured a lot in the past two years. Oh well, he'll either learn or die. Nature is a cruel but just teacher.

What a bunch of bullshit. People make mistakes, hopefully he'll be able to learn this on his own. Being a **** doesn't make anything better on anyone.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Well I'll always remember with a mixed sense of decadent blissfulness and anger one incident during the first organized excursion by the cool gang (that was us) of the university on our first year. Many things happened during that excursion in a remote beautiful mountainous region of our fair country . People stopped being virgins, hearts were terminally broken for the first time, alcohol poisoning, hotel owners at the edge of a nervous breakdown, a whole village male population wearing their fathers' suits which were too small for them and coming to the one and only "bar" of the region to try and get into bed with some of the girls from our university, nearly broken bones, bloodshot eye dawns and a lot of staggering.

The incident I talked about and I think it encapsulates pretty much the atmosphere happened in an indeterminable time of the night when alcohol levels in the blood must have been very high since everything was double and in our room we were sleeping actually had collapsed. All of the sudden I hear a disgusting sound right next to me in bed. I couldn't realizie it or rather believe it but there he was one of my best mates on his knees with his face above my open bag with all my clothes throwing up in it. I simply went back to sleep conveinced I was seeing a dream. The next noon when we woke up the stench left no doubts. All my clothes fopr the trip were puked over. Shattered my friend didn't remember any of it but he remotely could gather that at that time he thought that my bag was the toilet. he was crushed that he let me wore whatever of his clothes I wanted including his very nice coat.
