I have a couple of suggestions. First of all I agree with you on the "brag board." We should make it a team policy to AVOID this activity all together. I know for a fact that teams tend to gang up on other teams if the are doing very well, very poorly, or shooting their mouths off about anything. Additionally, I think if we are going to discuss games amongst ourselves it should by vial E-mail, ICQ, chat rooms, or some vehicle other that the message threads. Posting results is one thing, but advice and strategy should be removed from such public sites where prying eyes can see them.

Ruffhaus is absolutely right. We must not post our strategy here in a public forum. It may sound paranoid. But I know of at least three teams last time wich collected information on every (!!) player in the M99 and their respective communities. These guys had even collected individual statistics for everyone, meaning they sought and found the results of the games every player was in the last couple of years (!!) They will definately check out the Apolyton site for info.

Yeah, there should be no need for a password. Just force you to submit your own user name and password, it checks a list to see if it's okay for you to enter, and you're in.

Nobody can keep track of 14 or even 7 games and give valuable advice. Why not do it differently: if every player keeps track of the moves of one teammate plus the moves of his counterpart in the other team? Like, for example, Boshko in Team 2 looks over my moves plus checks the moves of his rusian couterpart in Team 1. This way its not just that someone CAN look at someone else´s moves, but instead someone MUST look at the moves. This should also help avoid NMRs, as - for example - Boshko would ask for my moves if he didn´t get them in time.

Napoleon: We still only have 6 players signed up who haven't been assigned a team yet. The bare minimum for a team is 7... and we aren't including alternates.

WarVoid: As it stands, you have no commitments. You're still an alternate, along with Imran, Midshipman, reismark, ShadowStrike, WarVoid, Napoleon Bonaparte, and Du_Chauteau. Now if Napoleon can get a team III up and running, then we'll see.

By the way, Napoleon, getting one more player gives us the BARE MINIMUM in terms of a Team III. That doesn't seem like too attractive an option to me. Let's see if we can get at least 3 more people to join before christening a Team III.

I think it's great that there's enough Diplomacy players to form three teams for the World Masters, but one thing we're doing is stretching ourselves thin on alternate players.

And frankly I see several players signing up that have abandoned games in our forum in the past two months. I think it's necessary to point out that these games will be taken seriously by the opposition, and only those willing to commit to taking on the responsibility of represting us should play in this tournament. At the very least, we have to be committed to a ZERO NMR's and ZERO abandonments. But realistically, we should strive for serious prioritization of the tournament games. This will include a lot of e-mail correspondence with your opponents. We won't be able to rely on ICQ and instant messages in this.

What I'm saying is that I've committted to play in this for our club, passing up a chance to play for a more respected club. I'm not asking for a purple heart here, but please... if you take this on, see it through to the end, and do us all proud.

I am in complete agreement with Ruff, as normal.

We need to set a standard for the OTHER teams. Not the other way around. No NMRs. No abandonments. No bad behavior.

As I see it, I have not heard of barely any of the Team I & II guys. Who are they? Where did they come from? Are these the guys that leave games?

You see, I have no idea.

YESSS!!!!

I am pleased to report that after several weeks of duking it with his opponents (who refused to concede the match to him), Charlie Steinhardt has finally managed to achieve his solo as Russia in his semifinal game. Apolyton will be represented in the finals!
