Les envieux (Havana)
quand la vie nous brise un peu
en traçant ses blessures
que le ciel devient moins bleu
que tout paraît moins sûr
quand on se moque de toi
que tu les entends rire
tu es seul et tu as froid
tu es à la dérive
un jour tu t'es envolé
pour forger ton destin
mais tu veux t'arrêter
au détour du chemin
à cause de quelques uns
qui font dévier ta route
qui ne te veulent que du bien
et mettent en toi le doute
ils passent leur temps à parler
de ce que tu espères
que tu cesses de rêver
que tu as mieux à faire
mais s'ils s'amusent de ça
c'est que ça les dérange
s'ils sont cruels envers toi
c'est l'envie qui les ronge
et ils te crachent dessus
ils n'ont rien d'autre à faire
est-ce qu'ils n'auraient pas reçu
la grâce et le mystère
il y a quelque chose en toi
que le ciel t'a donné
c'est leur jeu que tu ferais
si tu y renonçais
un beau jour ne dis plus rien
et sèche un peu tes larmes
tu ravales ton chagrin

Have listened to this song so much over the last few weeks that it would be sacrilege not to post it:
Def Leppard
Pour Some Sugar On Me
Step inside, walk this way
You and me babe, Hey, hey!
Love is like a bomb, baby, c'mon get it on
Livin' like a lover with a radar phone
Lookin' like a tramp, like a video vamp
Demolition woman, can I be your man?
Razzle 'n' a dazzle 'n' a flash a little light
Television lover, baby, go all night
Sometime, anytime, sugar me sweet
Little miss ah innocent sugar me, yeah
Hey!
C'mon, take a bottle, shake it up
Break the bubble, break it up
Pour some sugar on me
Ooh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
C'mon fire me up
Pour your sugar on me
Oh, I can't get enough
I'm hot, sticky sweet
From my head to my feet yeah
Listen! red light, yellow light, green-a-light go!
Crazy little woman in a one man show
Mirror queen, mannequin, rhythm of love
Sweet dream, saccharine, loosen up
You gotta squeeze a little, squeeze a little
Tease a little more
Easy operator come a knockin' on my door
Sometime, anytime, sugar me sweet
Little miss innocent sugar me, yeah
Take a bottle, shake it up
Break the bubble, break it up
Pour some sugar on me
Ooh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
C'mon fire me up
Pour your sugar on me
Oh, I can't get enough
I'm hot, sticky sweet
From my head to my feet yeah
[guitar solo]
You got the peaches, I got the cream
Sweet to taste, saccharine
'Cos I'm hot, say what, sticky sweet
From my head, my head, to my feet
Do you take sugar? one lump or two?
Take a bottle, shake it up
Break the bubble, break it up
Pour some sugar on me
Ooh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
C'mon fire me up
Pour your sugar on me
Oh, I can't get enough
Pour some sugar on me
Oh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
Get it, come get it
Pour your sugar on me
Ooh
Pour some sugar on me
Yeah! Sugar me!

88 Lines About 44 Women
Deborah was a Catholic girl, she held out to the bitter end.
Carla was a different type, she's the one who put it in.
Mary was a black girl, and I was afraid of a girl like that.
Susan painted pictures sitting down like the Buddhists sat.
Reno was an aimless girl, a geographic memory.
Cathy was a Jesus-freak, she liked that kind of misery.
Vicky had this special way of turning sex into a song.
Carmela couldn't sing, kept the beat and kept it strong.
Xylla was an archetype, the voodoo queen, the queen of rap.
Joan thought men were second best to masturbating in the bath.
Sherri was a feminist, she really had that gift of gab.
Kathleen's point of view was this: take whatever you can grab.
Seattle was another girl who left her mark upon the map.
Karen liked to tie me up, and left me hanging by a strap.
Jeannie had this nightclub walk that made grown men feel underage.
Mary Ellen, who had a son and said "I must go, but finally stayed.
Gloria, the last taboo was shattered by her tongue one night.
Mimi brought the taboo back and held it up before the light.
Marilyn, who knew no shame, was never, ever satisfied.
Julie came and went so fast, she didn't even say good-bye.
Well, Rhonda had a house in Venice, lived on brown rice and cocaine.
Patty had a house in Houston, shot cough syrup in her veins.
Linda thought her life was empty, filled it up with alcohol.
Katherine was much too pretty, she didn't do that sh!t at all.
Uh-uh. Not Katherine.
Pauline thought that love was simple, turn it on and turn it off.
Kit-Marie was complicated, like some French film-maker's plot.
Gina was the perfect lady, always kept her stockings straight.
Jackie was a rich punk-rocker, silver spoon and a paper plate.
Sarah was a modern dancer, a lean pristine transparency.
Janet wrote bad poetry in a crazy kind of urgency.
Tanya Turkish liked to f*** while wearing leather biker boots.
Brenda's strange obsession was for certain vegetables and fruits.
Rowena was an artist's daughter, the deeper image shook her up.
Dee-dee's mother left her father, took his money and his truck.
Debbie-Rae had no such problems, perfect Norman Rockwell home.
Nina, sixteen, had a baby, left her parents, lived alone.
Bobbie joined a new-wave band, and changed her name to Bobbie-Sox.
Eloise, who played guitar, sang songs about whales and c@cks.
Terri didn't give a sh!t, just a nihilist.
Ronnie was much more my style, she wrote songs just like this.
Jezebel went forty days drinking nothing but Perrier.
Dinah drove her Chevrolet into the San Francisco bay.
Judy came from O-hi-o, she's a Scientologist.
Pomerante, here's a kiss, I chose you to end this list.
Eighty-eight lines about forty-four women.
Marc Almond
Title: There Is a Bed
Album: Mother Fist And Her Five Daughters
There is a bed where I can end my days
To think about the road I've run, the miles I've come
There is a bed where troubles melt away
My lonely hours or hours with you
The times that we've come through
There is a bed where we shared times of love
And out of love those nights are memories best forgot
We argued about trivial things
And slept apart, a wall we built among the sheets
There is a bed where sickness left its touch
And fever damp the sheets where I would shake all night
Cold burning on my brow
Hallucinations here and now
A fight to live or die
There is a bed where first we both made love
And left the marks, reminders of how good it felt
The hard, the soft, the sweat in midnight's hour
We built the fort, we climbed the tower
There is a bed where years will make us wise
Truth and lies defeat, despise and forgiving
The sheets our cradle birth to death
The twists and turns of love, the life we're living
There is bed where nights I lay awake
To think about my future to forget my past
My bed a boat to sail the seas
To land where safety finds me gripping to the mast
And though I feel the years slip through my fingers
Sorrow lingers and won't go away
There is a bed that is my sanctuary
A bed where I can end my days
There is a bed
MISS SHAPIRO
801
From "801 Live"
All the peasants in the squares
With the tables and the chairs
Set to salvage certain numbers
From the wonder of the tundra
And the muses in the gloom
Counting needles in their rooms
On the carpet in the corner
In a kind of secret slumber
While the information rains
Slash the dirty windowpanes in the square.
Smokey broads and smoky windows in the square
Come come charmer come on over for the day
Disappearing cocoa forests flash and die
Fortunes crumble all demolished in the bay.
Over forty pointed people
In the perfect pointed steeple
Looked to see the lucky number
Yes the wonder of the Tundra
Had come up for fame and fortune
Singing his tune, my tune, your tune
Wooing daughters of the gifted
On the carpets in the courtrooms
While the tickets were expensive
The show was quite relentless in the square.
Smoky broads and smoky windows in the square
Come come charmer come on over for the day
Disappearing cocoa forests flash and die
Fortunes crumble all demolished in the bay
Dalai Lama llama puss puss
Stella maris missa nobis
Miss a dinner Miss Shapiro
Shampoos pot - pot pinkies pampered
Movement hampered like at Christmas
Ha – ha, isn't life a circus?
Round in circles like the Archers
Always stiff or always starchy
Yes it's happening and it's fattening
And it's all that we can get into the show.
Smoky broads and smoky windows in the square
Come come charmer come on over for the day
Disappearing cocoa forests flash and die
Fortunes crumble all demolished in the bay

Rambling On My Mind
From the November 23, 1936 session in San Antonio.
I got ramblin', I’ve got ramblin' on my mind
I got ramblin', I’ve got ramblin' all on my mind
Hate to leave my baby, but she treats me so unkind
I got mean things, I’ve got mean things all on my mind
Little girl little girl, I got mean things all on my mind
Hate to leave you here baby, but you treat me so unkind
Runnin' down to the station, catch the first mail train I see
Runnin' down to the station, catch that ol’ first mail train I see
I got the blues about miss so-and-so, and the child's got the blues about me
And I'm leaving this morning, with my arms fold up and cryin'
And I'm leaving this morning, with my arms fold up and cryin'
I hate to leave my baby, but she treats me so unkind
I got mean things, I’ve got mean things all on my mind
I got mean things, I’ve got mean things all on my mind
I got to leave my baby, but she treats me so unkind

Sweet Home Chicago
Recorded on 23 November 1936 in San Antonio
Oh, baby don't you want to go
Oh, baby don't you want to go
Back to the land of California, to my sweet home Chicago
Oh, baby don't you want to go
Oh, baby don't you want to go
Back to the land of California, to my sweet home Chicago
Now, one and one is two, two and two is four
I'm heavy loaded baby, I'm booked, I gotta go
Cryin' baby, honey, don't you want to go
Back to the land of California, to my sweet home Chicago
Now two and two is four, four and two is six
You gon' keep on monkeyin' 'round here, friend-boy, you gon' get your business all in a trick
I'm cryin' baby, honey, don't you want to go
Back to the land of California, to my sweet home Chicago
Now six and two is eight, eight and two is ten
Friend-boy, she trick you one time, she sure gon' do it again
I'm cryin' hey, hey, baby, don't you want to go
To the land of California, to my sweet home Chicago
I'm goin' to California, from there to Des Moines, Iowa
Somebody will tell me that you need my help someday
Cryin' hey, hey, baby, don't you want to go
Back to the land of California, to my sweet home Chicago

Licking Cream by Sevendust
Corrupt my hope
In joyous hell
Between the lines
Lick the cream that smells
I wish you weren't so beautiful in my eyes
(crawling down your spine to make you stay)
I wish you weren't so beautiful in my eyes
(covering your eyes to make you pay)
Beyond the high
Lies burning eyes
Crashed down to soil
****ed up and coiled
I wish you weren't so beautiful in my eyes
(crawling down your spine to make you stay)
I wish you weren't so beautiful in my eyes
(covering your eyes to make you pay)
Too beautiful
(repeat)
You want to feel it
But you can't reveal that
Conceived the meaning
And caress the demon
All those callous eyes
How they infect you world
So you pretend to reason
But you've lost your soul
I wish you weren't so beautiful in my eyes
(crawling down your spine to make you stay)
I wish you weren't so beautiful in my eyes
(covering your eyes to make you pay)
You shouldn't be so beautiful in my eyes
(crawling down your spine to make you stay)
I wish you weren't so beautiful in my eyes
(covering your eyes to make you pay)
Too beautiful

Here Comes The Sun
Here comes the sun (Du du du du)
Here comes the sun
And I say
It's alright
Little darling
It's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling
It feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun (Du du du du)
Here comes the sun
And I say
It's alright
Little darling
The smiles returning to the faces
Little darling
It seems like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
And I say
It's alright
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Little darling
I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling
It seems like years since it's been clear
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
And I say
It's alright
Here comes the sun (Du du du du)
Here comes the sun
It's alright
It's alright

Here Comes The Moon
Everybody's talking up a storm
Act like they don't notice it
But here it is and here it comes . . .
Here comes the moon, the moon, the moon, the moon, the moon.
Impulse always quickens when it's full
As it turns my head around me
Yes it does and here it comes
Here comes the moon, the moon, the moon, the moon, the moon.
God's gift I see that's moving up there into the night . . .
Though dark the mirror in the sky reflects us our light:
Looks like a little brother to the sun
Or mother to the stars at night
And here it is and here it comes
Here comes the moon, the moon, the moon, the moon, the moon.
Breath is always taken when it's new
Enhance upon the clouds around it
Yes it is and here it comes
Here comes the moon, the moon, the moon.

Little spin around (go around)
The night you counted all the stars
The night you read road in the cup
The night you drove out the postman
And wore careau dress
The night it didn't bring me morning (only)
A mass that corrugates the universe
And I was left, a half crazed child, to rip
To rip clothes on the balcony
Little spin around, I'm afraid of you
Little spin around, I don't sleep
Little spin around, I'm afraid of you
Little spin around, I don't sleep
The night you erased everything
And that each morning brought you dizzyness
The night you counted your words
And told me hold me, I'll leave again
Little cosmic (worldly) spin around
Little little spin around of the boredom
Virgin with the jasmine
And the result of polycosmia (too much crowds/world)

I will not love again
My share of hapiness
Others have took it
Because I had clean hands
And a big heart
My share of hapiness
Others have took it
Because I had clean hands
And a big heart
My God the second time
That I will come to live
As much as the heart craves
I'll not love again
My God the second time
That I will come to live
As much as the heart craves
I'll not love again
Like a seabeaten brick
Like a devastated rock
Like an outsider I came to life
And I leave as an outsider
Like a seabeaten brick
Like a devastated rock
Like an outsider I came to life
And I leave as an outsider
My God the second time
That I will come to live
As much as the heart craves
I'll not love again

Our First Time
Like this as I hold you in my arms
And you have laied on the sheets
I say My God make it that our first night
Lasts for a thousand years
From your soft body
I drink the drops like honey
Come to fly together
In love forever throughout the centuries
Touch me, make me dizzy take me high
Kiss me wrap me in your warm hands
And let's say it and let's swear, our every night
As long as we live to relive our first time
Like this as we leave ourselves sweetly now and sleepy on the bed
I say My God may we always be well always forgotten inside love
You are tired but I am here lay against my body and sleep
Wherever it leads I'l love you
Your life has by now become mine
Touch me, make me dizzy take me high
Kiss me wrap me in your warm hands
And let's say it and let's swear, our every night
As long as we live to relive our first time

Stars don’t scold me
Stars don’t scold me
Stars don’t scold me
Stars don’t scold me
Because I sing at night
Oh because I had pain in the heart
Because I had pain in the heart my little tall brunette
Because I had pain in the heart and I came out and told it
Stars don’t scold me
Because I sing at night
Stars don’t scold me
Because I sing at night
To the stars I’ll tell my pain
To the stars I’ll tell my pain
To the stars I’ll tell my pain
Who don’t betray it
Oh, who also have patience
Oh, who also have patience, ah the way you made me end up
Who also have patience for hours to pay heed
To the stars I’ll tell my pain who don’t betray it
To the stars I’ll tell my pain who don’t betray it
Ask the stars of the heaven
Ask the stars of the heaven
Ask the stars of the heaven
And they will tell you
How my little eyes cry
How my little eyes cry, ah the way you made me end up
How my little eyes cry when they remember you
Ask the stars of the heaven and they will tell you
Ask the stars of the heaven and they will tell you

Come my little soul
You're such a child deep down
You're so good by mistake
You're so naive that if you want You can
Find everything the clever onces lose
You're such a funny little tough one
I even kiss your little finger
That got hurt
What do you want the brawl for
What do you want it since you get the nice deal
Come on my little soul, come on my little heart
I know you're not what you let be seen
Others have played you
Others got you in a mess
Cry because when you cry you look younger
Bite your lips
I'm your handkerchief
I wipe out the ice from the glare
Come on my little dummie, take a hold from my caress
Hold on here lest the current carries you away
Don't pose as a rotten one to me
I don't play you with hidden cards
I find this crack where the raw life
Adores the lost body
There are no waters of Jordanes
And when my baby you "catch" harbor
Don't think it too much, all sinners
All from they same blend
Come on my little soul, come on my little heart
I know you're not what you let be seen
Others have played you
Others got you in a mess
Cry because when you cry you look younger

Like A Rolling Stone
Once upon a time you dressed so fine
You threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn't you?
People'd call, say, "Beware doll, you're bound to fall"
You thought they were all kiddin' you
You used to laugh about
Everybody that was hangin' out
Now you don't talk so loud
Now you don't seem so proud
About having to be scrounging for your next meal.
How does it feel
How does it feel
To be without a home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?
You've gone to the finest school all right, Miss Lonely
But you know you only used to get juiced in it
And nobody has ever taught you how to live on the street
And now you find out you're gonna have to get used to it
You said you'd never compromise
With the mystery tramp, but now you realize
He's not selling any alibis
As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes
And say do you want to make a deal?
How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?
You never turned around to see the frowns on the jugglers and the clowns
When they all did tricks for you
You never understood that it ain't no good
You shouldn't let other people get your kicks for you
You used to ride on the chrome horse with your diplomat
Who carried on his shoulder a Siamese cat
Ain't it hard when you discover that
He really wasn't where it's at
After he took from you everything he could steal.
How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?
Princess on the steeple and all the pretty people
They're drinkin', thinkin' that they got it made
Exchanging all kinds of precious gifts and things
But you'd better lift your diamond ring, you'd better pawn it babe
You used to be so amused
At Napoleon in rags and the language that he used
Go to him now, he calls you, you can't refuse
When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose
You're invisible now, you got no secrets to conceal.
How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

Tangled Up In Blue
Early one morning the sun was shining.
I was laying in bed
Wondering if she'd changed it all.
If her hair was still red.
Her folks, they said, our lives together
Sure was gonna be rough.
They never did like Mama's homemade dress.
Papa's bankbook wasn't big enough
And I was standing on the side of the road,
Rain falling on my shoes,
Heading out for the east coast.
Lord knows I've paid some dues getting through,
Tangled up in blue.
She was married when we first met.
Soon to be divorced.
I helped her out of a jam, I guess,
But I used a little too much force.
We drove that car as far as we could;
Abandoned it out west.
Split it up on a dark sad night;
Both agreeing it was best.
She turned around to look at me
As I was walking away.
I heard her say over my shoulder
"We'll meet again someday on the avenue."
Tangled up in blue.
I had a job in the great north woods
Working as a cook for a spell,
But I never did like it all that much
And one day the axe just fell.
So I drifted down to New Orleans
Where I happened to be employed
Working for a while on a fishing boat
Right outside of Delacroix,
But all the while I was alone.
The past was close behind.
I seen a lot of women,
But she never escaped my mind and I just grew
Tangled up in blue.
She was working in a topless place
And I stopped in for a beer.
I just kept looking at the side of her face
In the spotlight so clear
And later on as the crowd thinned out
I's just about to do the same,
She was standing there in back of my chair.
Said to me "Don't I know your name?"
I muttered something underneath my breath.
She studied the lines on my face.
I must admit I felt a little uneasy
When she bent down to tie the laces of my shoe.
Tangled up in blue.
She lit a burner on the stove and offered me a pipe.
"I thought you'd never say hello," she said,
"You look like the silent type."
Then she opened up a book of poems
And handed it to me.
Written by an Italian poet
From the thirteenth century
And every one of them words rang true
And glowed like burning coal
Pouring off of every page
Like it was written in my soul from me to you
Tangled up in blue.
I lived with them on Montague Street
In a basement down the stairs.
There was music in the cafe's at night
And revolution in the air.
Then he started into dealing with slaves
And something inside of him died.
She had to sell everything she owned
And froze up inside
And when finally the bottom fell out,
I became withdrawn.
The only thing I knew how to do
Was to keep on keeping on like a bird that flew
Tangled up in blue.
So now I'm going back again.
I got to get her somehow.
All the people we used to know;
They're an illusion to me now.
Some are mathematicians.
Some are carpenter's wives.
Don't know how it all got started.
I don't what they're doing with their lives,
But me, I'm still on the road
Heading for another joint.
We always did feel the same.
We just saw it from a different point of view.
Tangled up in blue.

Subterranean Homesick Blues
Johnny's in the basement
Mixing up the medicine
I'm on the pavement
Thinking about the government
The man in the trench coat
Badge out, laid off
Says he's got a bad cough
Wants to get it paid off
Look out kid
It's somethin' you did
God knows when
But you're doin' it again
You better duck down the alley way
Lookin' for a new friend
The man in the coon-skin cap
In the pig pen
Wants eleven dollar bills
You only got ten
Maggie comes fleet foot
Face full of black soot
Talkin' that the heat put
Plants in the bed but
The phone's tapped anyway
Maggie says that many say
They must bust in early May
Orders from the D. A.
Look out kid
Don't matter what you did
Walk on your tip toes
Don't try "No Doz"
Better stay away from those
That carry around a fire hose
Keep a clean nose
Watch the plain clothes
You don't need a weather man
To know which way the wind blows
Get sick, get well
Hang around an ink well
Ring bell, hard to tell
If anything is goin' to sell
Try hard, get barred
Get back, write braille
Get jailed, jump bail
Join the army, if you fail
Look out kid
You're gonna get hit
But losers, cheaters
Six-time users
Hang around the theaters
Girl by the whirlpools
Lookin' for a new fool
Don't follow leaders
Watch the parkin' meters
Ah get born, keep warm
Short pants, romance, learn to dance
Get dressed, get blessed
Try to be a success
Please her, please him, buy gifts
Don't steal, don't lift
Twenty years of schoolin'
And they put you on the day shift
Look out kid
They keep it all hid
Better jump down a manhole
Light yourself a candle
Don't wear sandals
Try to avoid the scandals
Don't wanna be a bum
You better chew gum
The pump don't work
'Cause the vandals took the handles

KEITH URBAN - You'll Think Of Me
I woke up early this morning around 4am
With the moon shining bright as headlights on the interstate
I pulled the covers over my head and tried to catch some sleep
But thoughts of us kept keeping me awake
Ever since you found yourself in someone else's arms
I've been tryin' my best to get along
But that's OK
There's nothing left to say, but
Take your records, take your freedom
Take your memories I don't need'em
Take your space and take your reasons
But you'll think of me
And take your cat and leave my sweater
'Cause we have nothing left to weather
In fact I'll feel a whole lot better
But you'll think of me, you'll think of me
I went out driving trying to clear my head
I tried to sweep out all the ruins that my emotions left
I guess I'm feeling just a little tired of this
And all the baggage that seems to still exist
It seems the only blessing I have left to my name
Is not knowing what we could have been
What we should have been
So
Take your records, take your freedom
Take your memories I don't need'em
Take your space and take your reasons
But you'll think of me
And take your cat and leave my sweater
'Cause we have nothing left to weather
In fact I'll feel a whole lot better
But you'll think of me
Someday I'm gonna run across your mind
Don't worry, I'll be fine
I'm gonna be alright
While you're sleeping with your pride
Wishing I could hold you tight
I'll be over you
And on with my life
So take your records, take your freedom
Take your memories I don't need'em
And take your cat and leave my sweater
'Cause we have nothing left to weather
In fact I'll feel a whole lot better
But you'll think of me
So take your records, take your freedom
Take your memories I don't need'em
Take your space and all your reasons
But you'll think of me
And take your cat and leave my sweater
'Cause we got nothing left to weather
In fact I'll feel a whole lot better
But you'll think of me, you'll think of me, yeah
And you're gonna think of me
Oh someday baby, someday

Lady Godiva's Operation
Lady Godiva here dressed so demurely
Pats the head of another curly haired boy, just another toy
Sick with silence she weps sincerely
saying word that have oh so clearly been said
so long ago
Draperies wrapped gently 'round her shoulder
Life has made her that much bolder now
that she's found out how
Dressed in silk, latin lace and envy
Pride and joy of the latest penny faire
pretty passing care
Hair today now dipped in the water
Making love to every poor daughter's son
isn't it fun
Now today propping grace with envy
Lady Godiva peers to see if anyone's there
and hasn't a care
Doctor is coming the nurse thinks SWEETLY
Turning on the machines that NEATLY pump air
the body lies bare
Shaved and hairless what once was SCREAMING
now lies silent and almost SLEEPING
the brain must have gone away
Straped securly to the white table
ether caused the body to wither and writhe
underneath the white light
Doctor arrives with knife and baggage
sees the growth as just so much cabbage
that now
must be cut away
Now come the moment of Great! Great! Decision!
The doctor is making his first incision
One goes here--one goes there
The ether tube's leaking says someone who's sloppy
the patient it seems is not so well sleeping
The screams echo up the hall
Don't panic someone give him pentathol instantly
Doctor removes his blade
cagily slow from the brain
By my count of ten--
the head won't move

The Devil Went Down To Georgia
Charlie Daniels Band
The Devil went down to Georgia, he was looking for a soul to steal
He was in a bind, cause he was way behind
And he was willing to make a deal
Well he come across a young man sawing on a fiddle and he played it hot
The Devil jumped up on a hickory stump
And said "Boy, let me tell you what
In case you didn't know it, I'm a fiddle player too
And if you care to make a dare
I'll make a bet with you
Now you play pretty good fiddle, son but give the Devil his due
I'll bet a fiddle of gold against your soul
Cause I think I'm better than you"
Well the boy said "My name's Johnny, and it might be a sin
But I'll take your bet you're gonna regret
Cause I'm the best there's ever been"
Johnny rosin up your bow and play your fiddle hard
Cause hell's broke loose in Georgia
And the Devil deals the cards
And if you win you'll get this shiny fiddle made of gold
But if you lose the Devil gets your soul
The Devil opened up his case, and said, "I'll start this show"
And fire flew from his finger tips as he rosined up his bow
When he pulled that bow across the strings, it made an evil hiss
And a band of demons joined in, it sounded just like this
When the Devil finished, Johnny said, "Well you're pretty good old son
But just sit down in that chair right there and let me show you how it's done"
He played Fire on the Mountain, run, boys, run
The Devil's in the house with the rising sun,
Chicken in the breadpan picking out dough,
Granny does your dog bite, "No, child, no"
The Devil bowed his head because he knew that he'd been beat
And he laid that golden fiddle on the ground at Johnny's feet
And Johnny said, "Devil, come on back if you ever want to try again
But I told you once, you son of a *****, I'm the best there's ever been!"
He played Fire on the Mountain, run, boys, run
The Devil's in the house with the rising sun
Chicken in the breadpan picking out dough
Granny does your dog bite, "No, child, no"

I'm in love with your eyes
For your two light blue eyes
That are such grace and caprice
I've sent away any of my old loves
And I go around the winecups
What if with lies they trick me
What if others with love they look
I cannot for a minute deny them
And fall in love with other eyes
I'm in love with your eyes (your eyes)
I told you and I'll always tell you
And if I lose it in front of your stairway
(oh oh oh )
Nights without dawn I'll be crying
I can even become a murderer
Even if the crowd laughs at me
I'm in love with your eyes
I told you and I'll always tell you
It's like they've left the heavens
And they look with such pride
Those little eyes that light fires
Wherever they tell the world's lies
In front of them the stars lower
And the tough dudes end up in a brawl
Eyes whom whoever saw just for one night
Got damage in the heart
I'm in love with your eyes (your eyes)
I told you and I'll always tell you
And if I lose it in front of your stairway
(oh oh oh )
Nights without dawn I'll be crying
I can even become a murderer
Even if the crowd laughs at me
I'm in love with your eyes
I told you and I'll always tell you

Vagabond Virgin
Tell me how you want me to be, then look again and you will see
That I still look the same, love
Think me into any shape, your twisted mind has no escape
But don't be ashamed, love, it's just a game, love
You can learn how to play
Born like you were in a terrible mess,
Didn't know what it was to have a new dress
You just wanted to scream my name
Till somebody said,'Let me take you to bed'
And with money and lies, they filled your head
You were barely thirteen, a child from the villages
So fresh on the scene.

Who Knows What Tomorrow May Bring
We are not like all the rest
You can see us any day of the week.
Come around, sit down, take a sniff, fall asleep
Baby you don't have to speak.
I'd like to show you where it is
But then it wouldn't even mean a thing.
Nothing is easy, baby just please me
Who knows what tomorrow may bring.
If for just one moment
You could step outside your mind.
And float across the ceiling
I don't think the folks would mind.
Well if for just one moment
You could step outside your mind.
And float across the ceiling
I don't think the folks would mind.
Who knows (who knows, who knows) what tomorrow may bring (repeat to fade)

The Accordion
(allegory song for the junta)
In my old neighborhood I had a friend
Who knew and played the accordion
When he sung he was the spitting image of the sun
The accordion kindled fires in his hands
But one night, dark as all others
He kept watch while playing the accordion
German vans stood in the yard
And a blast stopped the accordion
The signal-that-had-started, always stays with me
Whenever from then on I listen to accordion
And it has marked my life like a stamp
And it has marked my life like a stamp
Fascism will not pass
Fascism will not pass

Tightrope
Electric Light Orchestra
They say some days you're gonna win,
They say some days you're gonna lose.
I tell you I got news for you
Your losin' all the time you never win
If you believe that's how it's gonna be I'd better put you down
Get off your tightrope up there come down on
The ground you gotta save me now,
You better turn around.
When I looked around, I was heading down.
Won't somebody throw me down a line.
They say some days you gotta give--
They say some days you gotta take--
If that's the way it's gotta be,
Roll it over and you will see.
The city streets are full of people going nowhere making time.
The change from night to day is really only hours,
It's just along the line can't you see the sign
When I looked around, I was heading down,
Won't somebody throw me down a line.
I want to look you straight in the eye,
I want to tell you how I really feel,
I can feel the wheels turnin' round,
Won't somebody throw me down a line
The city streets are full of people going nowhere making time,
The change from night to day is really only hours
It's just along the line, can't you see the sign
When I closed my eyes, I was so surprised
Somebody had thrown me down the line--stopped me drownin

The Warrior
Scandal
You run, run...run away
It's your heart...that you betray
Feeding on...your hungry eyes
I bet you're not so civilized
Well, isn't love..primitive
A wild gift...that you wanna give
Break out of captivity
And follow me, stereo jungle child
Love is the kill.....your heart's still wild
Chorus:
Shootin' at the walls of heartache, bang, bang, I am the warrior
Well I am the warrior, and heart to heart you'll win..if you survive
the warrior....the warrior
You talk, talk, you talk to me
Your eyes touch me physically
Stay with me, we'll take the night
As passion takes another bite
Who's the hunter...who's the game?
I feel the beat...call your name
I hold you close...in victory
Idon't wanna tame your animal style..
you won't be caged...in the call of the wild....
Repeat Chorus
Shootin' at the walls of heartache (shootin' at the walls of heartache)
The warrior.....
I am the warrior, and heart to heart you'll win
heart to heart you'll win...if you survive
The warrior...the warrior
shootin' at the walls of heartache, bang, bang, I am the warrior
yes I am the warrior and victory is mine
The warrior...the warrior

Visions of Johanna (Bob Dylan)
Ain't it just like the night to play tricks when you're tryin' to be so quiet?
We sit here stranded, though we're all doin' our best to deny it
And Louise holds a handful of rain, temptin' you to defy it
Lights flicker from the opposite loft
In this room the heat pipes just cough
The country music station plays soft
But there's nothing, really nothing to turn off
Just Louise and her lover so entwined
And these visions of Johanna that conquer my mind
In the empty lot where the ladies play blindman's bluff with the key chain
And the all-night girls they whisper of escapades out on the "D" train
We can hear the night watchman click his flashlight
Ask himself if it's him or them that's really insane
Louise, she's all right, she's just near
She's delicate and seems like the mirror
But she just makes it all too concise and too clear
That Johanna's not here
The ghost of 'lectricity howls in the bones of her face
Where these visions of Johanna have now taken my place
Now, little boy lost, he takes himself so seriously
He brags of his misery, he likes to live dangerously
And when bringing her name up
He speaks of a farewell kiss to me
He's sure got a lotta gall to be so useless and all
Muttering small talk at the wall while I'm in the hall
How can I explain?
Oh, it's so hard to get on
And these visions of Johanna, they kept me up past the dawn
Inside the museums, Infinity goes up on trial
Voices echo this is what salvation must be like after a while
But Mona Lisa musta had the highway blues
You can tell by the way she smiles
See the primitive wallflower freeze
When the jelly-faced women all sneeze
Hear the one with the mustache say, "Jeeze
I can't find my knees"
Oh, jewels and binoculars hang from the head of the mule
But these visions of Johanna, they make it all seem so cruel
The peddler now speaks to the countess who's pretending to care for him
Sayin', "Name me someone that's not a parasite and I'll go out and say a prayer for him"
But like Louise always says
"Ya can't look at much, can ya man?"
As she, herself, prepares for him
And Madonna, she still has not showed
We see this empty cage now corrode
Where her cape of the stage once had flowed
The fiddler, he now steps to the road
He writes ev'rything's been returned which was owed
On the back of the fish truck that loads
While my conscience explodes
The harmonicas play the skeleton keys and the rain
And these visions of Johanna are now all that remain
