I think that a few people were mildly pleased that Hideaki Anno got around to making a half-decent ending to the Eva series.

It is the series that made me love anime when I was hating it. There is only one series out there that can compete with Evangelion in terms of appeal to a broad audience.

I strongly recommand everybody to watch a few episodes (subtited Japanese version of course), because it has the potential to please many, many people who think anime is crap.
