With time being the key word. They certainly aren't pushovers, especially with those Hoplites, but I don't think they're too much of a threat. A lot of their territory to the south is plains, which will take a while to road & irrigate with non-industrious workers; and the plains are pretty much useless till they do so.

- clearly the scientific leaders on the continent - will become more so with their free tech and their cheaper libraries |
Yes, with tech options narrowing and their free tech leaping them ahead of the pack, things may come to a head where they find they have no trading partners at all. Hopefully they will realize this and be generous with tech (or at least with accepting IOUs). This is assuming contacts stay the same, though; if they make contact overseas, they may find similiarly advanced civs with whom they can start trading. That would not be good.

Possible Future Issues:
- trading maps - they seem to want to trade maps |

- border - I have a feeling that they may take a hard line on where the border should be - they could think that if they failed to come up with a compromise to their liking, they would simply align with someone else against us (like LL)
- probably are eyeing the MAST area to the east for possible conquest - may lead to a coalition between LL and Sunshine agreeing to a division of MAST's area |
On the border issue: I think we can strike a satisfactory border deal if we want to. I have a feeling non-industrious Sunshine won't be fighting over that jungle much, so long as they get a certain radius around their capitol. However, they do seem like a good target for our second core... but that's another issue.
On alliances: Sunshine and LL don't seem to be communicating much, or at least not getting along very well, since LL is now researching MM on their own.

2) Latin Lover:
- likely building warriors and hording gold - planning a mass upgrade to Legions (downside: the continent may be researching tech too fast for that to be a useful strategy plus they may be reluctant to upgrade their legions into Med Infs) |
Or they could upgrade some of their Legions for attacker Med Infs, and leave some Legions unupgraded for defense and mop-up attacks. Feudalism takes some of the teeth out of Legions, but not nearly all.

Possible Future Issues:
- border with us - where will it be - we might prefer that spice/small lake area as a border area |
With the founding of their latest city, LL seems to agree. Personally, I'm fine with cities past their chokepoint so long as they don't go further west past Lolita.

- possible offensive war by them - most likely against MAST but possibly against us - what would our response be to that? |
If you mean to a war against us, we kill them back.
To a war against MAST: I really don't want to get in the way of Legions. You don't want them on the attack, but neither do you want to be on the attack. I'd say we stand aside unless we can get Sunshine in on a three-way alliance; that might tip the balance.

3) MAST:
Possible Future Issues:
- may be attacked by either LL or Sunshine - what will our response be to that? |
If attacked by Sunshine, I would be more inclined to support them; but only clandestinely if they're attacked soon. If they're attacked once we have Riders on the way, on the other hand, I'd try to take a bite out of Sunshine's territory and get all the goodwill we can from MAST in return for doing so.

4) The Civs on the other continent (Monkey, Cake or Death (Izzardia) and Monty Python):
- LL or MAST will likely be the 1st to contact them (based on LL's size, their area possibly stretches the furthest east on our continent) |
It's even possible LL has contact with them already. But if they don't, it may be a while before they get their galley in the water. I put my bets on Sunshine; with their tech lead, they have even more incentive to build lots of galleys, and start suiciding them eventually, in order to find new trading partners who are hopefully as advanced as they are.

Possible Future Issues for us:
- We can't let Sunshine and LL get into an alliance with each other , especially over dividing up MAST unless we have a solid relationship with one of them allowing us to be part of a 2vs1 alliance if 1 civ is eliminated from the continent. |
Agreed. I don't want Sunshine gaining more territory; I still hope to attack them despite their Hoplites. I don't want LL to grow either.

- Should we support or oppose any offensive war by LL? |
See my comments above.

- How can we keep up with Sunshine in tech? |
There's no way around their lead for the moment. I think we should try to get a Construction for Lit and IOUs trade so we can get into the middle age and start researching MA techs ourselves.

- Where do we expand once we run out of useful land in the west (this issue will come up soon enough given our expansion rate) |
South a little. I want to make sure no one else has a city on the lake. After that, we should stop settler production in favor of workers, military, and city improvements like markets.
