Crash to Desktop - Please Help! Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

I love Civ3, but I've had the same problem since it first came out, through all the patches and expansions (currently playing Conquests Beta Patch 1.12). If anyone can give me advice on how to fix the following I will be eternally grateful (neverending alliance, all my luxuries and resources (well, maybe I'll keep just one iron), etc).

1. The game plays normally up until somewhere in the Industrial Age.

2. Somewhere between 1650 and 1815 the game crashes to desktop, usually at the beginning of my turn when city builds are being announced.

3. The error log detail available from the Windows error box that appears is as follows:
CIV3CONQUESTS caused an invalid page fault in
module CIV3CONQUESTS.EXE at 0187:00601d0a.

4. If I restart and load the last save, the game will run for a variable amount of time and then crash again. My working hypothesis, though it’s still just a guess, is that the crash occurs when I attempt to go to the city detail screen, i.e. by double clicking on a city or by selecting ‘Go to City’ from the city production pop-up.

5. I have never played in the Modern Times, which causes me endless frustration.

Again, any and all help greatly appreciated. I would attach my last saved game but it appears to be too large. I could email if anyone was interested in looking at it.

Thanks much.

I'm probably being antsy, but with no replies to my query above I'm wondering if there's somewhere else I should be posting my problem. Does anyone know if Firaxis has an internal group providing help or do they just work this board when dealing with user issues?

Thanks for your time.

I would email atari support. The address should be on the www.civ3.com site. You have a pretty detailed report here so hopefully they should help.

I don't have a clue as to what your problem might be, but good luck in getting it fixed.
