We must have eaten not the same pieces then. Horse steaks are admittedly a tad less tasty than beef, but some lame cooking can solve it (such as garlic sauce)

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Try kangaroo, if you can get it. It's lean like horsemeat and, imho, tastier than beef. Not as tender, obviously, but it's perfect for a stir-fry.

I'm not vegetarian myself, but at one point I did an informal survey of levels of vegetarianism in my different subjects. The results were striking - 0% in maths, 12% in physics, and 45% in biology. (Sample size was 25 in the first two cases, and 20 in the last.) The softer the science, it seems, the more likely one is to believe one of the justifications for vegetarianism. Or perhaps the causation is the other way around - high levels of protein and cholesterol make the brain more adept at mathematical thought.

Tired of ads?

Or biology types have more info on things like loss of transferred energy between each link in the food chain.

And the accumulation of dioxins at each level of the food chain. The more meat you eat, the more dioxins you consume.

I never found meat to taste particularily good. Not without spices or herbs, anyways.

Save a cow, eat a vegetarian.

I eat meat, but usually game (venison, elk, antelope, moose) Not only is it healthier than beef, it's tastier and cheaper.

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

I understand the point about eating more vegetable-based food. I am watching something on TV and they are trying to get kids to eat more healthily by getting them to adopt a world war two diet. I mean for christs sake, the kind of stuff we used to eat represents everything that stereotypes Britain for having terrible food. Boiled cabbage, sloppy stews...the very sight of it turns my stomach let alone some kids. There needs to be a certain appeal to make vegetable based dishes appealing. Indian cuisine for example, looks very nice. But piles of mushy cabbage boiled to a slow...eughhh.

I read somewhere that the children that grew under rationing was the healthies generation of Britons in history.

I'm trying to be for the most part, but it's hard with a husband who eats anything that moos, clucks, baaas, quacks, gobbles etc..... He would be happy with nothing but meat an potatoes every single meal and lots of meat. My daughter on the other hand is a strict veggie person. She won't eat anything with a face. She became this was after eating some less then savory chicken and got a really bad case of food poisoning. That was it for her and I haven't seen her eat meat for over 7 years.

I eat meat and could care less about what other people think is the best way.

How many of you meat eaters have actually killed what you eat?
