Hi everybody,
I'm back (alive) and wish you all a Happy New Year and Happy Civing.
Some thoughts: can we switch the Catapult in Plymouth to a Galley and put at least 1 conscript Warrior (if not already disbanded?). If we find an island or a bit of unexplored land (even a hut), it could prove hepful.

Some basic thoughts for once we come out of anarchy:
1) Izz should remain a settler/worker pump for a while yet.
2) When speed is not crucial, it is best to have single workers complete jobs on unroaded tiles. Less wasted worker turns. It was perhaps silly of me to create the 3 worker team north of Izzardia. Once they are done with their job, let's split them up. One can go irrigate/road the plains to the west, and proceed to deal with other plains tiles near CoS. Another can go work on the remaining unimproved grassland around Izz. The third can move on to other hills near Izz.
3) Disband the conscript warriors - though disbanding them in Izz while it's doing settlers/workers is a minor waste of shields, so it might be worthwhile to move them to another city first. I think we will get 2 shields per conscript, so this amounts to a grand total of 4 shields. If we can think of a city which will benifit from 4 shields, great, let's move them. If not, screw it, disband immediately. We should check out obvious things, like whether or not disbanding one or both in one of our barracks towns might speed a chariot build, or perhaps they could speed along CoS's library?
4) Speaking of CoS, market next?
5) We might want to consider a FP in Swindon, and a palace jump far to the southwest. It may be the best way to arrange our empire. If we decide that configuration, or something else that involves a palace jump, is the best, I can learn how to make it happen.
-Arrian, rambling.

Cort,
The big disadvantage of having only a scout on a Galley is that if he encounters barbs (roaming and/or from an island hut), he is helpless. I suggest we put a scout and a conscript.

Arrian,
This is why I wanted to have Plymouth build a second Galley. The Burundy-Galley goes on scouting with the Scout and a conscript Warrior. I still believe the 'return on investment' could be huge.
The Plymouth-Galley can drop 2 Swords and prevent a Monkey escape.
We can also assign the 2 Galleys (if we build the Plymouth one , that is) to prevent a possible escape.
We can even have the first and only one Galley to scout after the war (if it survives), but I wish to point out that by now the other civs will likely have their own Galleys sent out. I really prefer to be the one meeting them than the reverse (+ the occasional interesting island...).
Now, what's your opinion and vote on this matter?
For myself: 2 Galleys, 1 for the war, the other one for immediate scouting.
