The 925 Settlers Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

Once again, I love that plural.

In 3 turns, both Chow Mein and Dim Sum produce a settler. Where do we send them?

My proposed layout:

0 is already founded, and A will be next turn. Everything else with regard to city placement is as it is in the pic.

I would suggest we go for D with one of them (to continue western expansion), and for the other either B (to complete settlement of the southeast between Buffet and Kung Pao) or E (Western expansion, and with the founding of D we'll bring the hill iron into our territory and give E 2 2-food tiles to work.)

I would agree to D and B1 for the next two. I think that E should wait until we have B1 up and running.

Regarding settlers after that, I'd suggest getting a settler down to G soon to start building a temple and seal our chokepoints. Then we can backfill in E.

I wonder whether we should send a settler south of the chokepoint sometime soon. Latin Lover's aggressive settlement of the southern spices may be a test whether we will respond with a settler of our own. If we send nothing, they may push further west.

Also if we do discover an island east of us, that should be a priority for settlement over any mainland city.

D, then a B. Though, as Sharpe says, an island off our coast should be made an immediate priority as well.

Good point. I'm currently assuming that's LL land over there we wouldn't be welcome to settle and would probably find the good land taken anyway, but if it is an island, let's claim it ASAP.

Oh , I forgot to vote ...

I would agree with all of you : D and one of the B's (B1 right now but I have changed my mind more than once already )

Though as I said earlier - if that is an island to our east - that becomes a priority IMHO .... but if it is LL's area , Houston we have a problem... as that is too close for comfort (in addition to LL's creeping up on us from the south too...)

I think we should send the galley back now for the Chow settler. Whether or not this land is connected to LL, I at least want a city at the tip by the two whales. So: Shall we send a settler over? If so, where does the remaining Dim Sum settler go?

Get a bigger avatar today!

Definitely send at least one settler over there, but if we have two available then get the other over there ASAP as well.

I'd recommend sending the warrior to that hill to see if we can see farther to the southeast.

Full PM-box? Change here!

Both settlers is an idea... the second one will have to wait its turn, but it might be worth it. I'll vote for that

Where shall we place our cities? I'm thinking W, E-E, and NE-NE-NE-NE-N of Ship's Cook currently. But we don't know nearly enough about the area beyond that one-tile chokepoint to judge about that last one.

All three of those sites work well for me. Though I definitely want to know more about the area too.

We need to decide two things before the next turn: a) are we building the two-whale tip city? and b) if that's so, do we want to use the first settler for it?

If the answer is yes to both questions, Chopsticks & the settler will disembark next turn.

*bump*

The latest screenie from across the ocean:

Seems this land is quite close to the LL mainland, unless that's actually another island.

Please at least post a straight vote; the turn is coming back around.

Uh, yeah, settle the area near the whales...but then settler near the hill with the second one. If we get a third over there in time then go north.

Tip and Hill with the 2 settlers. Get the north later, like Rhoth says.

So we want to use the settler that boarded the galley this turn for the tip city?

If so, the settler can disembark on the tip next turn.

I think so yes. If LL discovers the island soon we'll at least have one city on the island and they can't say a word about it.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I know Sharpe is opposed to the tip as a city site, but since Rhoth and I are in favor, I unloaded the settler and spear there.

From the land uncovered this turn, it looks like this land may be connected to LL after all. I'm still in favor of settling the site though; it's really closer to us and protects us from LL using the site for 1-turn galley landings in a war. Should we still settle? And should we send the other settler pair over?

Suffering from ads?

Yes and yes. I don't see any claim they have on it, just as we did not claim the spice city before they settled it.

Both Zargon and Rhoth vote for the hill for the next site. I'm okay with that. Objections?
