For what it's worth, I heartily recommend GC. As far as hardware goes, it's better and more reliable than the PS2, and cheaper than the box. And the controller is simply an individual thing; I prefer it over the others (it's worth noting that having played Tony Hawk and SCII on the GC, I now f**king hate the PS2 controller. But then, I've got obscenely large hands, which makes getting the buttons easy for me.)
Ultimately, and don't let anyone else say anything different: IT'S THE GAMES, JACKASS. Not to be offensive , but get a system for the games, not just to own a particular system.

Yes, some excellent ones. Halo is still best on the Xbox, BTW. Even on my insane gaming rig it runs like crap on the PC.
Just a few off the top of my head that I really enjoy: ESPN Hockey 2004 (NHL2K4), Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, Project Gotham Racing 2, Amped 2, Ninja Gaiden (soon...soon...), Rallisport Challenge (1&2), Prince of Persia, and Soul Calibur II.

does a new x-box still come with that gigantor controller, or do they sell them with the smaller (s?) controllers?
