Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

For what it's worth, I heartily recommend GC. As far as hardware goes, it's better and more reliable than the PS2, and cheaper than the box. And the controller is simply an individual thing; I prefer it over the others (it's worth noting that having played Tony Hawk and SCII on the GC, I now f**king hate the PS2 controller. But then, I've got obscenely large hands, which makes getting the buttons easy for me.)

Ultimately, and don't let anyone else say anything different: IT'S THE GAMES, JACKASS. Not to be offensive , but get a system for the games, not just to own a particular system.

Yes, some excellent ones. Halo is still best on the Xbox, BTW. Even on my insane gaming rig it runs like crap on the PC.

Just a few off the top of my head that I really enjoy: ESPN Hockey 2004 (NHL2K4), Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, Project Gotham Racing 2, Amped 2, Ninja Gaiden (soon...soon...), Rallisport Challenge (1&2), Prince of Persia, and Soul Calibur II.

Wargames = usually turn-based strategy games in a war setting, not silly FPS

Well, yes. But Halo is truely a console game, and it lacks the niceties a lot of PC originals have. Plus it was a bit sloppy.

There's some cool games for GC, but really, I'd just save up until you can get the Xbox cheaper, or give that money to someone who really needs it, like some little old lady.

They come with the Controller-S, but the big one can be purchased on its own.

Well in the end the controller did it for me. Like I said, I'm doing it more for the sports games and the teeny Y and X button turned me off. I know, it's sad. If the 'Cube had a more X-Box s-controller type of third party controller (or something)... and if they actually had it at the store I went to (), I may have gotten it.

I just decided I like the X-Box controller better.

Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

A gamecube would phreaking awesome, i wish i had one hyndred dollars so I could buy a gamecube, and then I'd use the extra dollar to buy 100 hundred tootsie rolls! Then my gamecube and I would eat the tootsie rolls, and share stories about our travels through indo-china!
