That last clue was next to useless. I'd already worked out that the game involved the kicking about of aforementioned animals from Clue 2.

I have a vague memory of something like this, but it's not as clear as memories of older games on older platforms. Wasn't shareware was it?
I might have to give up after the next clue if it doesn't spark any kind of memory.

Its the fact that it came out on 8bits as well that's foxing me.
Was it some kind of 'snooker/pool' version of football? And was it U.S. or rest of the world Football(like soccer)?

Its not one of the demented versions of sensible soccer is it? They did one that combined cannon fodder and SWOS, but maybe they did one that had cute furry creatures to kick around(typical sensible humour ).....ummm i guess it could have been called SWOKC(sensible world of kickable creatures)?

more clues vicar

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

No, not sensible soccer you have to remember there are alot more computergames than just soccer. If you take to the realms of fancy...

So there I was, amongst the crowd
Seeing a dwarf and an ogre, taking the field and duke it out...
To my surprise, that wasn't the end of it
Because his next opponent was a squid!...

Soccer was just a red herring.

Question: I know that goggling is out, but what about other Web resources? Like going to Lemon C64 and browsing through the games there, that is, not doing a keyword search, but just leafing through them.

Well, in the first place. We all look at retrosites like Lemon or the giant list of 8-bit programmers to find some nive bit of trivia. Where else would we get all those screenshots and illustrations from? So in that sense we're all dodgy geezers.

These days I try to ' antigoogle' my posts as much as possible. You would already need to have a good idea of what you're looking for to find it.

Can we have a clue as to what the creatures were?
I've got a feeling that they were sheep, but this still does not get me any closer to the title. I realise that you can't name them, but I'd like a clue as to whether they were real or made-up animals.
Was this on release everywhere? I hope it's not a weird Dutch-only game.

Very well , I'll step out of shelby mode. ..

First up. They're made-up animals, not real ones.

Second, I'll try and describe them. Imagine a round brown furball, just a bit smaller than a football. Now imagine that those furballs have cute eyes and a mouth. You almost feel sorry for kicking them about. but not sorry enough. These furballs can move around by bouncing around. But during a match they will cower and cringe when you prepare to kick them.

Third, no it's not some exotic Dutch game. It's European however.

I doubt that it was a Euro-only game. More likely he meant that Infogrammes or someone made it. That's what European meant to me at least. Is anyone still actually trying to guess this, or have we reached the critical mass before we can get our hands on the answer?
