Well, Syracuse set a personal record this morning with a low temperature of -16F , and the thermometer's heading right back down again tonight!
We're getting one day of relief tomorrow with temperatures returning to the 20's, but then we're heading back into the icebox for the whole of next week!

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I should point out that when Edmontonians are dancing in the streets in January while people everywhere else are shivering in the cold, it is definitely time to arrange your affairs. The end times are upon us! Hell is erupting just below the Legislature of the Province of Alberta.

I knew I should have listened when they commented on Ralph's impish good looks. Damn, damn, damn.

From TorStar:

"So, as we're bundled up, frost nipping at our noses, trying to start the car, who can we blame for our predicament?

That's easy, says David Phillips, senior climatologist at Environment Canada. It's Alberta's fault."

Yah, but there's cold and then there's cold.

I don't mind -10C weather in the slightest.

When it gets down to -30, however, then it's just plain stupid cold.

Normal strange weather here in the Bay Area... Nice and spring like one day, cold and foggy with light rains the next...

I think it's silly. They get so hot and bothered around here by the fog. It's not fog!!! It's just low misty clouds, you still have 100-200 ft. vis!!! Go to the central valley and check out Tolley Fog which comes right out of the ground... 5-10 ft. vis.!!! Now that sucks!

Unless your in HS. They use to make us run when it was that foggy, you get 5 feet from your coach and he couldn't tell where you went.

So sad, but so very true.

Funny thing is I wasn't lying. As I was coming to bed, I checked the thermostat because I felt a little cold, kicked of my shoes, and all of a sudden, I was freezing. I was shivering and chattering my teeth like I was almost hypothermic. It took me a half an hour under the covers with the heating pad Theben gave my for Xmas a couple years back and some hot tea to stop shivering. I'd been feeling a little ill all day (stomach flu), so maybe I was low on electrolytes or something.

You started shivering because your body temporature was climbing up rapidly. That happened to me once. The body conceived that the difference between you and the air was too large so it thought that it was getting cold. It didn't know actually itself was the problem.
