	FAST C3C PBEM for 8 idlers, with alliances Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

I also posted this in Civ Fanatics. Because of the time restrictions I also need to post it here to have any chance of getting players for a fast game:

I'm starting a new PBEM trying to make it as fast as possible. So, I'm looking for 7 more people who can play AT LEAST one turn in each of my 2 time zones: 6-12 & 19-23 GMT. Are you a lazy college student ? Can you play at work ? Are you an eccentric millionaire with buckets of spare time ? Has your girflriend dumped you ? Then you have found your perfect PBEM!

Rules:

1) The most important: Our playing times overlap. That is, you can play at least once during both my morning and my evening zone. It may be easier for Europeans who can play at work, but Americans who stay up late or wake up early shouldn't have a problem too.

2) To differentiate it somewhat from a normal PBEM, we will have alliances. Each civ will have a blood brother whom they may not attack under any situation, unless of course they are the two last civs on earth, in which case they should happily slaughter each other. But until then we will have 4 teams of 2 civs each. Alliances will be formed by drawing lots.

3) Each time a new patch comes out we will have to install it. We'll all start with the latest patch available.

4) Monarch - Emperor level of playing. Higher levels acceptable, lower ones.... ummm... no. I like to be humiliated.

5) No quitters please. If you quit I'll track you down and burn your house

6) Preferences:

World size: Standard
Barbarian activity: Roaming
Land mass: Random
Water coverage: Random
Climate: Random
Temperature: Random
Age: 4 Billion
Difficulty: Monarch

No AP. Random starting locations.

Because of the time-zone restrictions, it may take a while before we get together. If you participate, please note that the game may start after a month or even later, depending on when I'll find 7 more players.

Well, the time restrictions make it difficult. But I'm optimistic! The fast game will more than compensate for the time we'll have to wait in order to find 8 players!

Just an observation, if you have eight human players then you cant have any AI , so in reality youre not making the game any harder for yourself by notching up the diff levels. Only possibly slower, Regent or Prince level maintains a level playing field which should ensure an equal starting situation and enable a fast game.

When you raise difficulty levels you are in essence only giving the AI advantages and slowing down your start game!

As you know at higher levels it takes longer to get established, so the higher the level the slower the game.

If you want a really fast game have 3/4 players with 4/5 AI and to make it really quick go regent but put the AI on most aggressive setting and barbs on raging on a tiny or small world.

If fast is what you desire check out the Arch of Hadrian thread, its where me and Paddy the Scot are posting about a game were playing. dont be mistaken though the thread was originally for another game, were using the second half of it. we manage up to 20 turns a day some days.

ChrisiusMaximus, thank you for your remarks. I'm not interested in just a fast game, I'm interested in a fast game with 8 humans. I play normal MP with 3 friends, and I have slower PBEMS with 8 humans going on.

The difficulty level affects the number of people that are born content in a city, so it is meaningful even without any AI.
