In one deck blackjack (under most rules), by counting cards and varying bets depending on the situation, you can play over 100%, or you could say the house advantage is negative.
Now even under optimal condition this is about 102 % or something along those line, so you only win on the long run, and still lose a lot, so you need very good memory, perfect skills, nerves of steels and a deep pocket.
In the 70s I think, it became a bit too popular and the big casinons worked around it, by adding decks, or preventing too much bet variation etc...
