Whilst busy reliving Wham!'s greatest hits, I was struck by that infamous line

"Dont keep me hanging on like a yoyo"

Despite much discussion, i have yet to find out what this particular lyric actually refers to, and a friend suggested i ask you learned lot.

Yo-yo's were weaponry used by certain Amazonian tribes. They could kill a man at 20 feet.

Skanky's is better, but JCC's is closer to the truth. I saw a program on the most annoying pop songs, and it was singled out as a silly line. Some songwriter was explaining that it while people thought it was to do with being given conflicting signals, pushed away and pulled back again, they were looking for a far deeper meaning than was actually there. It was simply a way of saying "don't leave me hanging", as in waiting and not knowing, while getting it to rhyme with "go-go".

The idea being if she left without saying goodbye he wouldn't know how she felt, and wouldn't have 'closure'.
