Thanks for adding these up BF!

Its up to you guys whether we do a run off poll or not but if you do you better end it before about 1600 EST on friday. So I got a little wiggle room to check results and vote.

There's really not enough time for a runoff poll. It's about 52 hours from now that the choices are due. Polls are supposed to last 72 hours.

Hum, I was expecting 5X, 3X, and 1X ?

But I'm positive that also returns Greece is #1 and I'm fairly sure it also results in Irq and Rome being #2 and #3.

I don't think we need a run off to break the 4th place tie. Just select the Mayas as the 4th choice and the Carths as the 5th choice given that 3 people selected Maya as #1 compared to 1 person selecting the Carths as #1.

Did these last ones do that then? Despite only not checking here for a few days they all seem to be closed. Bloody annoying, especially given our top choice is the Greeks.

It's different this time - I didn't even know it was happening.

When I do, as in the ISDG Consul election, then that's all my fault and there's nothing more to it than that.

Doh!

I made a mistake.

CoC replacement proposals and Consular election have a requirement to be open for 72 hours.

Bills, proposed by the Senate, only have a minimum of 48 hours; they can be open for longer.

Ok Im adding manual votes:

Iroquois +6 (Three from MWIA and myself)

Mayan +4 ( Two from MWIA and myself)

Greeks +2 (one from MWIA and myself)

New totals are:

1st Iroquois: 37
2nd Greeks: 33
3rd Romans: 24
4th Mayan: 21

If ANYONE has a major problem with this let me know within 4 hours, I have to vote at the UN in around seven hours.

I really think that the other poll, the one with just the top five should be used. It looks like we have gotten almost the same number of voters and since it is a smaller poll, more peoples votes counted.

Great because I talked to Togas and he thought we should use this one because it wasn't open ended.

Well if I dont hear from the other counsels by the end of this afternoon, USA time, then Im flipping a coin.

.

You can close the other one and thus eliminate the "open-ended"ness of it. Just close the thread at the 48 hour mark and you will have frozen the vote.

Full PM-box? Change here!

I am going to post at the UN with the original votes from this poll before my and MWIA's votes.

Thats seems to be the fairest alternative.

Togas or Oct_X if either of you is around, I would like to get a on that.

I have to vote on this in about 24 hours.

(Due friday the 16th at 2359 GMT)

conmcb25:

I think everyone would be fine with using the latest poll numbers set up by donegeal. It is a legal poll because it can be manually closed at any time after 48 hours has elasped. It doesn't have to close at any particular time as per the Constitution, it only has to run at least 48 hours. Which is enough time for you to make our choices at the UN.

I find it interesting how the Mayans got all these votes. I guess all the people who didn't vote for Rome or Greece in the original polls voted Maya in this one.

Get a bigger avatar today!

I was a little puzzled at why the latest 'open-ended' poll was closed less than 48 hours after opening (I count 34 hours between don's first post and closing post).

I do see however that con said earlier that a decision was needed at the UN at about the time don closed things, so it is perfectly understandable.

quote:
(From that since closed thread)
Although this trait of yours to always be a "day late and a dollar short" on voting on polls is very charming please do not expect much sympathy from me in the future.

Watching what is happening at the UN, getting the information distributed here, polling for the answers, and getting the info back to the UN is rapidly getting to be a full time job (that doesn't pay very well).

So please in the future pay attention and try to vote on at least these critical issues in a timely manner

* MrWhereItsAt sighs

I know I have had a little to do with the lack of time here, and I am sorry for my part in these delays, but when I left NZ close to a week ago discussion had been going on for some time and there was no indication we would be polling anytime soon, nor that decisions would suddenly be needed so urgently. When I next got the chance to check the forum it was after no more than 4 days - in which time ALL polls had been decided. If I had been delaying my votes then I would have had no grounds for making a fuss and I would have had to accept my stupidity, as I have so many times before. HOWEVER this was not the case, where everything was decided very quickly after long delays, during which I spent a lot of time reading and posting here.

A news update informing everyone of the polling time at the least would have been nice, as I bet there were others who were keen to vote but got used to the idea of discussions ongoing. Completely unbeknownst to me I missed the only 4 days that WERE important in this game's history to date, and there was no indication beforehand they would be the important days.

Yes I WILL try to vote on things in a timely manner, and at least in future (as I do now) if I miss them through my own fault I will not be problematic. I just feel that I was not given much chance to vote this time. I do not know who to address this to (certainly not you con), but I do not expect sympathy, merely what I would consider fair warning on something so important, something that everyone who wants to be involved with this game needs to have their say in. As long as this feeling is understood.

The due date for he vote is not yet. conmcb25 got the days mized up and had donegeal close the poll (that was valid). I'm not sure what we should do now other than accept the results from the last completed poll before the latest that was closed by donegeal. BTW, both of them favor the Greeeks, even though slightly. How appropriate is it for the Greek Civilization Site to choose Greece as it's Civ!

On the voting issue:

When we control what and hen we are going to poll it will not be a problem giving everyone a heads up.

I had been doing that to some extent in the UN reports thread.

But things to be decided at the UN are NOT in our control and the admins for this game have been far from organized.

That leads to the confusion and the inevitable hurry up then wait. Then hurry up and hurry some more.

So right now it is the nature of the beast.

Donegal could open up the what if poll until1400 today.

Thats 1400 EST USA or 1900 GMT.

I have also come to the conclusion that the counsels need mod powers and will work on that as well.

Just saw that runoff poll
Would have voted:
Maya 3 points
Irq 2 points
Rome 1 point

The flavor of the week aspects is largely a factor of how short these polls have been.
