JD finishes mine @ Sw-89 and starts mining Ciao-2, but CM can't move from there this turn.

Swindon builds chariot, Wf adjusted for 5spt - net beneficiary is CoS with more food and commerce.

Archer moves west, FP continues on mnts - Python have a warrior down there heading for the barb camp.

2 conscripts disband in Plymouth. Others will disband there in two turns.

Frumpy moves round coast.

Izz builds settler next turn.

Sent Mysticism to Monkey.

Choice between HBR in 1 turn@-2gpt, or in 2 turns at +19gpt. Take the GOLD option. These last two turns for HBR will pay for the galley rush

In 4-5 turns CoS hits size 7 AND builds its mkt - yummy. With that lot, when we put the cash pedal down CoS should churn out over 25gpt.

Sweet. I agree with your decision on HBR, especially given that Silesia won't finish its last chariot until next turn (and discovering HBR first would alter the build to a horseman).

Looks like the 2 workers north of Izz finished roading the mined hill. Let's have one of them move 77 to the plains tile for irrigation/roading, and the other move 3 to the grassland tile for roading/mining (in that order).

CM... well, he can either join JD and help mine Ciao2, or he could move 2 to Swindon9 and irrigate/road (and then also go on to deal with Silesia9 for the same, while the stooges mine/road hills).

We're agreed on Plymouth 112 for the settler, right? Plymouth's spear can be escort & garrison.

The next build for Izz is a catapult, followed by a worker, then settler. After that (or after another cycle of settler-cat-worker, or after two, whatever) we can ponder switching over to the following:

(starting the turn a settler is complete):

1) Size 5, 10f, 0s. Begin barracks.
2) 15f, 10s.
3) Size 6, 10f, 20s (roughly).
4) 15f, 30s.
5) Size 7, barracks complete. Worker.
6) worker complete (1), size 6, 10f. another worker.
7) 15f, worker complete (2), size 5, 15f. Another worker.
8) Size 6, worker complete (3), size5, 10f. Order Horseman.
9) 15f, 10s.
10) Size 6, 20s.
11) 15f, horse complete. Order worker.
12) Size 7, worker complete (4), size6. Another worker.
13) 15f, worker complete (5), size5. Another worker.
14) Size 6, worker complete (6), size5. Order horseman.

A variant of this can be done with spearmen instead of horsemen. Obviously there will be more spears produced since they are 2/3 the cost of the horsemen. Or it could do a variant where it builds warriors for upgrade instead. Or a mixture thereof. The warrior thing could be interesting once we get past the initial upgrade hurdle... extra sword reinforcements might be needed, and Python might want to give us iron again for that purpose, allow them to build warriors again while not physically cutting their iron supply.

Depending on how the war goes, doing this or something like it could free up Swindon and/or Silesia to build marketplaces and libraries instead of just units.

Our southern scout:

Come to think of it, perhaps it IS best to bring him back north, hugging the eastern coastline. When he gets through, he can help shield the incoming settler team and/or our invasion troops from Monkey's sight. On the way he might even open up some more of the map we haven't seen yet.

What do you think?

Will Swindon-9 have water? The river touches Swindon at the corner.

The Izz plan looks good.

On the scout, he can only move a couple of tiles before reaching Monkey terrain. There are only a few tiles we've not seen on their east coast, and the galleys would reveal them from the coast - although that would be a while later. I don't know how Monkey would feel if we asked them for passage through what's nearly the one patch of their land we haven't got mapped.

Swindon9... I think so. Swindon is on the river, and IIRC, is not build on a hill. Therefore we should be able to irrigate through the city. The same should be true for Silesia. Definitely double-check that, though!

Con mentioned something like "just let me know when your scout is coming back north" in one of his recent messages. I think we're allowed back through. I guess the only question is the exact route.

I like the idea of having another unit available for blocking purposes.

See the last post in the Monkey diplo thread. It used to be a double post, but I have now edited over that (the neatness of that approach appealed to me for some odd reason).
