There is a lot of silica in grass plants. If you eat enough it wears away your teeth. This actually happens to wild animals and they starve to death if something else doesn't eat them first.

The below-ground stem of the grass blade has a sweet root. I would be surprised if there wasn't some nutritional value to humans in it

Er, do I get to be the first to ask why he wants to know? I'm guessing Zylka's been marooned on Easter Island or something.

Dandelion leaves supposedly have some decent nutritional value for humans, BTW. They're a good survival food if you ever happen to wind up homeless in suburbia. Mix yourself a salad to go with your pigeon.
