Damn, I dont think this 1.15 patch likes me very much. CTD the same as before.

When I do a clean install civ 3 gold, then c3c, what patchs do I need? I presumed civ3 gold comes patched, then I downloaded the 'full' c3c 1.15 20mb patch and now the same problem again.

iirc, gold edition has the newest patches for civ3 and ptw and approx 1.02 for c3c. i recall seeing the need of installing patch 1.12 BEFORE 1.15, but i'm not sure anymore.

Even with a clean c3c 1.00 install I get the same crash.

Perhaps I am not uninstalling correctly. Nothing has changed with my pc or network since I used to play. Im going to put something in the help forum if this next try doesnt make it work.

snotty: you can check, if you've done a clean uninstall (uninstall all games and XPs and gamespy stuff) if you delete the whole subfolder and go to the registry (WindowsKey+R, "regedit ") and delete everything civIII-related beneath the branch
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Infogrames/
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Infogrames Interactive/

gramphos may know if some DLL register themselves... i'm not as good as him with this stuff

but i really doubt it's the installation's fault.

There might be a few folders in Progrsm Files\Install Shield Installation (or similar that has an ini-file with a civ-related name in it For full uninstall these fulders has to be deleted)

Well this weekend seems to have been a wash. I have PMed Snotty, and hopefully we can get his problems sorted out, but I think we need more details.

I can get my games in with sabrewolf and Gramphos on any Saturday or Sunday where they are available during their evenings. I am a night owl and rarely (if ever) get up early, but I could be alive and semi-sentient by 6pm GMT or so if a meeting is arranged.

Next weekend is totally out of question. Saturday is booked for a 50 years celebration, and sunday I HAVE to study for the first exam (on monday) The weeken after that should be good (I have the last exam on Friday, and no new courses start before Monday)

This weekend went away quicklt, but at least I got civgroup news done.

I remember now having to repair win XP, I guess that must have erased my settings. The problem is I dont know what it was I changed to make it all work in the first place.

Unless anyone has any ideas, I dont really have time to find the solution to this. My comp is being replaced in the next month so any searching will be wasted time.

Sorry to leave it all on such a bum note, but I am open to suggestions as to how to fix it.

That's too bad Snotty. Do you mean you have had to delete registry entries and then reinstal in the past? If that is the case, help shouldn't be too hard to get.

Well, I managed to miss both sabrewolf and Gramphos. If we do this sort of thing again, it would be best to have people grouped by geography somehow.

In the mean time, the clock has run out. From the record it appears that sabrewolf should play off against F-P. The outcome of that game will establish who is the winner of the event.

I'll watch for F-P and sabrewolf to respond here. If they don't post before tomorrow, I'll send PMs.

well, i must say, i don't really think i should be in the finals. especially since i'm 100% sure i'm weaker than snotty and highly positive, nye would kick my arse, too

so i wouldn't mind waiting another two weeks, at least until nye at least stuffs in a game or two. (and snotty too, if it finally should work!)

if not: f-p: 1EST? is that afternoon or nighttime? i presume that's something like 22:00 GMT on sunday, you're speaking of, right?

It's OK sabrewolf. We said no extentions, and I at least meant it. If, and that's a big if, some progress had been made then I could see it, maybe. However, in the last 6 weeks I have been unable to hook up with a single Euro.

Extentions have killed the tournies preceding this one, so let's stick to our rule. I hope there will be more tournies, and then I look forward to getting more games in. However, I strongly doubt there will be any more if we go the way of the dithering that killed the last 2.

You have a shot at a rematch with F-P. You never know, you might get a good start and have the game of your life. So go get 'em.
