	The problem with the swear filter. Suffering from ads?

Now I think it's reasonable to censor words like **** and ****, but the exclusion of one term is really getting pretty annoying.

And that is **** as in **** Cheney and **** Gephardt. Presumably the censoring of these men's names may lead one to think the worse of them.

Does anyone really call anyone else a **** anymore? AFAIK there are no five year olds posting on Apolyton. Calling someone a "Gephardt", in my view, would be to expose oneself to ridicule - as would be being offended by such a label.

So can we please have **** (as in Gephardt) back?

I wouldn't mind Dick being de-filtered. If anyone is infantile enough to use it as an insult, well can't they just be punished for it?

People post articles about US politics, and anyone glancing at the thread will think the article is full of swearing.

That's also a problem for other languages. In spanish Undo is "De****o' .. D E S H A G O... and there are other few words in spanish that we cannot say due to the censorship. Anyway I'm not complaining. This is very funny specially the **** Cheney thing...

In response to requests made above, some of which echo ones made in previous threads, the following modifications have been instituted to the censorship filter on Apolyton's forums:

* The word '****' is still not permitted, but for example 'shaggy' is.
* The word 'dick' is no longer censored.
