Yes, I believe it was. It covers it pretty much. While I like all 3 Consuls, only Arnelos is putting in an effort that I can see. Even then, Arnelos's presence is spotty at best. MZ's and Trip's availability lately leaves a lot to be desired. Forum participation is down, people are not completeling theri assigned tasks, we failed to get peace with GCA before they attacked our galley when we should have had peace from them 10 turns ago but our Consuls/FAM was dragging their feet on that.
Can they do the job? Certainly, they can. I know this. But, are they? No, they are not doing it. Ultimately it is about results; and I've seen little of them.
I'm sorry for my negative attitude right now but I think we need to get our act straight and not let things slide by.
BTW, option 4 is the 'banana' option. Also, this is meant as a wake up call for the team. We need people to take roles. Togas has asked for Deputies but we have very few takers.

As concerns the availability issue, my availability has indeed been spotty of late. My apologies for that. I try to be active when I'm available. When I'm not, I'm not.
As for MZ and Trip, they are simply having connectivity issues over the past few days, it seems. Trip was last seen online Monday evening and he was having considerable trouble with his connection. I'd guess that his absense since then is likely due to that. For MZ, he's been here as much as his currently crappy internet connection will allow. His cable company is supposed to have fixed his problem today, so hopefully that should improve things.
As for forum activity, it has indeed been done quite a bit. As I've discussed with some people in chat, I think this is because activities levels always drop around holidays and the winter holidays happen to be a simultaneous holiday time (including travel) for nearly everyone on the team. It should be absolutely no surprise that activity dropped because of that.
Now that we're in a new year and people have largely returned to their normal places of residence, activity should pick back up. To the extent that some people may be doing different things in RL than they were before and can no longer contribute at the same level, we'll have to find others to do those jobs. That's just a natural progression of leadership positions to those who are available to fill them.
I do think it wouldn't hurt if we could find a way to boost people to get involved here again, since I think a lot of people reduced their activity because of the holidays and are now just lurking because they missed a lot. Anyone who has a suggestion about how we could help these people is open to make it.

start another war?
seriously, what are the townies (such as myself) supposed to say, other than "good job moving those settlers around" The game is on autopilot, more or less, until something happens that causes a deviation from the plan.

Ok, folks. As a contingency only, the Ministry of War hereby has an executive order to start working on a plan to bombard, invade, and topple the government of GWT -- just in case, you know, it became necessary.
Ministry of the Interior should begin work on a reconstruction plan for GWT and the establishment of a friendly government over there. We probably won't need them, you understand, but it wouldn't hurt to be prepared.... you know, just in case their government suddenly collapsed for some reason.
Oh, don't worry about all of this, it's just contingency planning. We'll keep the plans stored in a drawer somewhere on the offchance that some administration in the future would actually have need of them.
Ok, boys, get to work!

Well, on a more serious note, here's what I see being things people can help with in the immediate future:
1. The NewSP. We need to make a new strategic plan. The first stages of that are underway and involve a discussion about how we might win the game. The next stage is going to be going over how things we would do between now and then should be shaped by how we would win. Finally, we need to write down a full strategic plan of what we are doing and why in the near, medium, and potentially long term to meet our goals. Such a strategic plan would require revision over time, of course, but we need to get the basic NewSP ironed out now that GCA on our continent is done for.
Members of the team can help at every stage of that process. Especially once we have a rough draft of the NewSP written, feedback from any and all members of the team on alterations to it is a substantial way people who aren't necessarily around EVERY turn can still have a major impact on the game and our strategy within it.
2. City names. It seems that we're moving toward the establishment of a city naming process which calls for ample input from members of the team and which may call for the members of the team to vote on city names. It may just be cosmetic, but it does provide something for people to do and leave a mark on the game.
3. Diplomat(s). Apparently, Togas needs at least one more. So if someone is interested and has some time, please let him know.
4. More MoI Deputies??? As of right now, E_T is basically doing the entire MoI job without backup. I think we still technically have Panzer32 as his deputy (do we?), but it might not hurt for Panzer32 and/or at least one other to help E_T out. Afterall, E_T won't necessarily be here EVERY turn and may not forever (until the end of the game) have time. We all have real lives.
5. MoW Deputy/Deputies. As for the Ministry of War, since Aggie is now the MoW, there is *no* Deputy MoW and that absense has been felt multiple times of late. We can't expect the MoW, one person, to be available at EVERY single chat and Aggie has had some trouble getting up plans every turn. It wouldn't hurt at all for the ministry to have at least one deputy able to step up to that role should the primary be absent.
6. Anything else you can think of, even just things that would be fun or interesting within the forum.
So there ARE things we could really use people to help out with... we just need more people to get back in here.

Hell, I played the last turn with a connection that was crashing on me every 5 min (just look at the chat with CFC and see hwy many times I discannoceted in that chat alone), I played it after a lucky chance at actually being able to load up the turnthread, and thank my lucky stars that I had first roadcage to help out and then Arnelos who came online and help we with orders from past threads which I was unable to access.
I compare playing that last turn to playing soccer with one foot, but I managed it, and even managed to upload the save while Donovan Zoi from CFC was present so he could download it directly (my e-mail went bust on me and I can't send e-mails, though I can receive them).
It is not easy to have technology against you, but I think we try our best to do what our responsibly demands of us. I wish I had a perfect connection which didn't die out every minute. I wish I had the stupid cable company people come and fix it today like they said they would but didn't. I wish I could guarantee these things but I can't. I wish I could have posted in the many threads that have sprang up these days but I haven't been able to. Neither can Trip. I also wish I knew when I could say this will be all over with, but it might be tomorrow, it might be friday, it might be monday.
Until then, we will try and do what we can to the best of our abilities. As a consul I apologize for these problems, but I also hope to get some understanding on why we have had these misfortunes. What I CAN assert is that we have a wonderfully capable team who is always listening, suggesting, and critiquing our actions, that, is the greatest thing we, as consuls, can ever hope to have.
