The Fall of Rome Conquest Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

I have now played the "Fall of Rome Conquest" 3 times and have lost each time. I was wondering if anyone has played this conquest and won and would be willing to give me some pointers. I have been playing at the easiest level and tried playing both the Persians and the germans (or whatever they are called again in this conquest).

Play the Persians (Sassanids in the Scenerio AIRC) have all of the other CIV's declare war on Rome. Take Antioch and secure it once that is done swing on around through Palestine, Egypt and then through Lybia. By the time you get to Lybia you should have won the game, good luck.

Othe hints
* Build up your Empire before going on the offensive this means workers, a few settlers, and production improvements (if possible).

* Do not research the Barbarian part of the tech tree (it is possible but very expensive for the "civilized" CIV's.)

* Build up a good # of your best unit (Immortals II ?) before going on the attack Also have some defensive units on hand to protect your attack force. Once the offensive has begun just keep producing offensive units until victorious

* Dont forget to improve your Lands, most tile improvements should be mines, Irrigate only if more food is needed, or mining is not possible. Roads, Roads, Roads, Road every tile!.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I played it a few times and like the conquest, but never played it
out tol the end.
I have a game with the Celts on Regent in which both Romes are gone but still 50 turns left...boring..

I will give you a few tips when playing a barbarian tribe (every playable tribe except the Sassanids is barbarian)
It depends a bit on your position, but if you are close to one of the Romes (e.g. Franks, Celts, Visigoths, Vandals) build up a nice stack of offensive units. Only research on the barbarian path of the techtree. Do not attack too early. It is better to expand peacefully as long as you can, and to build workers to improve your lands.

When you have access to the third barbarian unit (Pillager) you should try to upgrade all your lower barb units to Pillagers. Don't bother with defensive units at all. You have no strong defenders anyway. Now declare war at one of the Romes, and try to buy other barbarian tribes in against Rome. With my games this came around turn 60, but it could go faster or slower.
If you are not close to Rome (Anglo_Saxons, Huns) first attack another barbarian tribe until you - almost - border Rome.
By the way, don't capture any cities. (Rome has a huge culture lead over you) Just raze them and put a unit or a city on a victory point.

Key to this thing is to be aggressive. On the lower difficulties beating Rome is not too difficult.
Hope this helps you JohnDoe,

Tarquinius

Here is a question - When playing the sassanids I knoticed that I could not build any immortals. I see that they start you out with 2 immortals on horses, but other then that the best offensive unit I could build were heavy armor. The question how do I build the imortals?

Research up the tech tree and you will be able to build the equivalent. They are not called immortals but act the same. I renamed the ones that generated leaders to immortals.

As the Persians, I took out Eastern Rome and then bribed most of the barbarian tribes to declare on the Western Romans. You can't do this one alone, you have to bribe the others to go to war as well.

I think Immortals II is just a name change for an Elite Horseman, which you can do. I only played FoR once, so I could be wrong.
