UnOrthO, We always appreciate your postings. Even if you feel that your in deep water, you can still always say HI!!
Also, if there is an issue that you feel needs some clarification, please let us know. I have found, in the past, that some people, if they don't quite understand something, will just give up. It's up to us, the Consuls and Ministers, to keep everyone informed in the best manner as is possible (at least from my point of veiw).

Voter/Lurker - I don't have the time for demogames that I once did.
I think the Consuls and active members here are doing a fine job. The only concern I might express is an (apparent) lack of any contingency planning for assaults against us.

Well if it is discussing an action or proposed plan perhaps you SHOULD. I know for sure that a lot of trust is placed in the opinions of the posts that appear in a thread. It is almost a poll - if you have a thread and two respondents, both of whom are in the affirmative, then it looks like no-one else is paying attention and it can be difficult to make a decision based on that number. However with no opposition, it is clear what decision WILL be taken. If there are lots of posts for then Consuls and Ministers can proceed with a lot more confidence, which can speed things up. OTOH, if there are issues raised to be cleared up, or even just disagreements, they can be worked out a lot more easily than if they are kept to oneself, and posting your own opinion (especially a dissenting one) can encourage others who may not normally do so to reply or support that, meaning we get the views of more of the team than just the few of us who are constantly active. If you want to have more of a say in things and not have the same half dozen people dictate policy all the time - speak up!
None of us can see the whole story from an unbiased perspective, and Consuls and Minister are so involved that they can miss either some fundamental aspects of the situation or the opinions of team members - it is only through the sum of our POVs that we can piece together the best decisions, so it is our duty as members to let our Consuls + Ministers know what we think of what they are planning/considering, even if that IS to say 'I agree because of ...'.

Im here, I have volunteered a couple times to help out. For whatever reason my effort to volunteer was not accepted.
Now Im too busy elsewhere so Im just going to lurk and post .
Although since the war ended I have not been following as closely. |
Volunteership is basically jumping in and starting to do something. For instance, BFM started Area X. Up to the point of the war, he has kept up with it, but now, the Area has all but dried up. I did look forward to the information that that thread had provided me and I often sent BFM items for him to check out. But BFM hasn;t been able to update that thread and no one has picked up that little bit of slack.
Other things that people can do, is to help up to organize some threads. We have rush helping with his history thread but more needs to be done.
There are many things that any of use can do, just to help out. I started posting charts of things in the SPDG because I wanted to see that Information in a consise and readillky available manner and no one had previously posting such things. So, I had taken it on myself to do that and others liked it because they had wanted to see just the same things. But they wouldn't have seen them if someone hadn;t just done it.
If any one wants to volunteer for something, especially if it's something that you like to do or really think that you want to see, then do it. We won't stop you. We want people to help, to atleast show us that we aren't posting in a wasteland, because that's what it seems like at times, that no one is here.

i was helping BFM a little with analysis on Demographics (F11) scores, overall scores and some analysis on GCA cities etc before the War started. But in the last few mths, I was busy with RL work and travel, so i did not quite continue the analysis. Also the fact that we have met everybody, exchanged maps, able to gather information by directly asking CFC/CGN .... just to name a few, means we have less requirement for Intelligence information gathering. i have however continue to update the historical log, but on a less frequent basis, like once a month.
maybe there are information i am not aware of that is required but not tracked ? E_T and others, if you can name some of the information required for this game, i am sure some of the 90+ members we have here can volunteer to track this. No harm asking isn't it ?

I am here. I vote in most polls and elections. Every now and then I make it to the chat room. I follow the game and foreign affairs reasonably closely.
As a founder of the game and original UN contact, and authorizer for forum access, I feel some responsiblility for keeping a bit of a read on the pulse of the game, and being ready to jump in administratively and UN-wise .... but only if needed.
I would check off one of Aidun's options - which is:
the demands of other demo-games I am active in and a myriad of pbem games, all of which I enjoy immensely.
All that being said, I do feel that this game, along with the ptwdg, are the premier events currently underway, and if ever requested, I would ramp up my involvement.
I have recently discussed with Togas about becoming more involved in FA, and then a barrage of RL stuff hit and I have been limited in Poly time.
My hats off to the consuls and ministers and regular contributors, all of who have contributed to keeping the team strong.

rush, I'm aware of your contributions and know that you (and everyone else) has RL things happen that keep you from doing more. I'm not laying any blame, just pointing out a fact.
Oh, there are a lot of things that people can do. Use your imagination as to what could possibly be needed.
One thing that I would like to see, is a production & trade capability analysis of the other civs, based on sims that can be use to look at these capabilities. We know that we are 3rd place in both production and trade, but the question is, how far are we back from the others? And how far is CFC behind us?? Can CFC, given an effecient running of their economy, quickly catch up and maybe surpass us in these areas?? or are they just too far behind to realisticlly catch up?? Can we realistically catch up to the other 2?? Does GWT, with it's ***** civ of GCA, have the best chance of succeeding?? If we deside to move militarily against GWT or CGN, what are the best targets to take out??
Maps, it would be nice for someone to post a full map and keep it updated. When GWT had colonized the old Firaxis areas, we didn;t even notice that it was going on, then poof, they have several cities up and running and their FP build and other things that we didn't even notice. We should have been watching.
I do have a map that is based on everything we know up to a little while ago, it needs to be updated, but it can be used to make up a sim to work off of. If anyone wants it, I can send it to you.
