San Andreas Diplomacy: Winter '02 Earthquake! Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations

Well, what an interesting earthquake season. Italy traded in its high-heel for a platform boot, as the Danube continues to reach farther north and farther west, giving birth to a new coast in Trieste. Meanwhile, Bulgaria becomes increasing isolated, now cut off from Greece by a new inlet of the Aegean. And while it took 4 earthquake turns to transform the Ruhr from a keystone province to a virtually useless territory, it took only one for Prussia. And the Rhine has been reborn, too. The biggest gain in this turn is, of course, Silesia which has suddenly become one of the most important provinces, now a crossroads between Germany, Russia, and Austria. In the deserts of Africa, Tunis has edged away bit from the Marine française dans occidental le méditerranéen.

Actually Defiant isn't quite locked out. Again, the list of canals from the rules (the ones that let Sweden have a mere 2 coasts instead of 3):

9. Certain provinces are regarded as 'straits provinces'. If they possess coasts on both of the following sea areas, those coasts are regarded as one: Con with BLA & AEG; Kie with HEL & BAL; Den with SKA & BAL; Swe with SKA & BAL; Nap with ION & TYS

So Tunis has two coasts, but Naples is a straight zone.
