Meanwhile Inspector Hercules collects the glasses, steak knives etc for fingerprint purposes. He has already sent a batch to Milan for testing. Also there were some interesting shoe prints at the scenes of crime. (Well there would be with all that blood flowing freely).

Next morning, a secretary found Hercules murdered in his office. The man's face was mutilated terribly, and when he was found, he was sitting in his chair, face on the table, the blood dripping off the side of the table onto the carpet. All of the papers on the table were soaked in blood, and the carpet also needed replacement. So did the policeman.

Zopperoni was chosen to be the new inspector for the village, as he was a fit man, and had a good sence of justice.

Zopp has been made the new inspector because it was he that cracked the Mafia Code a few pages ago, showing that Jamski & Jon Miller are the Mafioso. Now, given that he cracked the code and then proceeded to vote for Kass, we could call into question his judgement. But his work on the Mafia Code is sound.
