I thought I replied to Monkey with t-map accepted to their t-map unaccepted, but we don't have their map.

Swindon produces warrior
Silesia produces warrior

Stooges finish mine st Sw-3. One starts road.
Burundy stack finishes mine for 7spt. Granary in 4, growth in 5 (that is sweet!)
NW4 roads Cos-3
ES chop has gone into CoS, which has 23 shields. Lib in 10 (or temple in 7).
Ciao switched back to Spear
Horses move towards barbs.
N. Scout moves SW, archer S.
Cubmaster moves north, sees Manny the Chimp in PriCent. Barb galley is not coming north, it seems.
FP moves south.
As our next city is near the cow, JD moves 2 to the bonus grass. WC to hill Sw-41 to cover worker.
Cat into Corinth

Founded Silkfest at Ply-112 - wow, gets 4gpt (roaded goldmine). Starts Cat (barracks)

In two turns we'll have 10 warriors and over 400g. We can take the iron and upgrade, if Python needs to witch to warriors soon.

+57 gpt

1st in pop, gnp, productivity. 2nd in annual income, 3rd in mfg, land, lit

Cool.

A couple things: silkfest is going to build a barracks, so let's switch it to that.

Let me see if Python likes the idea of giving us iron on T95. On T94, we will complete 2 warriors, and then we can switch over to other things (spears, or even horsies).

Here is my current plan of action:

On T94, we can have most of our warriors move to Swindon12 (one built in silesia can't make it, and that's fine, we probably want him in reserve anyway). T95 they're at Corinth3 (at which time they are most vulnerable to prying eyes, so we will need a screen to cover them). T96 they arrive at silkfest, which rushes its barracks (34*4 = 136g). T97, we upgrade the lot, plus any more horsies we can afford. T98, we march 1 and give the city to Python. The 2nd galley also completes T98, and moves 322. T99, our main stack moves 2. Hopefully, the Pythonian troops reach the barracks town this turn, and possibly upgrade if they have movement left. The galleys muster next to them on the coast. T100, we load 4 swordsmen onto the galleys, and they sail 333. The rest of the stack proceeds southwards. Python hopefully marches 42 out of Silkfest.

Something like that. I will discuss exact timing with SR.

I wonder whether Python will want to wait that long before giving us Iron. If they want to start a second wave of warriors, fine, but if they need to build and upgrade part of their initial wave there won't be time to get them down there if they have to wait till T94 to start the warriors.

Also, I'm wondering how 4 swords would fare at Pri Cent. Unless they're renaming the same unit, they have at least 2 NMs available, and perhaps at least a third from either the north and west - plus warriors. I don't fancy those odds.

We'll see. I sent a message to SR, laying out my thoughts on timing, and if they don't like it, they can tell us so.

The landing will take place a couple of turns after the war starts. Hopefully, the troops in PC will race north to deal with our main stacks, and our landing will face less resistance than it otherwise would. However, even if PC is well-defended, our 4 swords will force them to keep a decent # of troops tied down in PC, which will weaken them elsewhere.

Oh, by the way, after we road Silesia9, what do you think about irrigating Silesia89 as well?

The three workers near Burundy should probably go give Coventry a mine after they road the tile they're on. Speaking of Coventry, we need to decide soon on whether or not we really want that courthouse.

It's at 70s, +2spt, right? So CH or Lib in 5, market in 15 (perhaps a bit less due to that mine I was talking about). Hrm. Library is appealing, even if we won't make use of it for a few turns after we finish it.

The new city, 112 of Ciao, will need a courthouse, and then we might want to consider a FP there.

edit: Coventry, not Plymouth. Arg.

Full PM-box? Change here!

y'mean Coventry.

I was about to suggest that. Which leaves the four around CoS/Izz and another in two turns.

Forbidden Palace, silly.

The workers near Izz:

Izz9: Finish mine, move 12, mine. After that, they might get added to Silesia, or they may go start jungle clearing operations in the Silesia/Coventry area.

Izz7 & CoS6: finish irrigating/roading around CoS (tiles immediately useable first, followed by tiles it will be able to use once the library pops its borders). After that, maybe get back to work on Izz's hills.

Our forest chopper at Ciao87: road, irrigate. After that, probably move 2, road, mine.

Stooges: move to develop new city 112 of Ciao?

Sound good?

Put an end to popups!

4 sword against 3 NM sounds At least they can cut their ivory. What about taking Gibbon (and then Baboon) instead?
We can also land them on a mountain (!!!) east of PC and await developments....

The rest is, as usual, perfectly fine

As Arrian says, if we let them have a couple of turns to send the NMs north, we've more chance. Otherwise we should at least be able to weaken their front line.

Our galleys could go back for 4 MORE swords ...

Bingo, I was thinking that too. Here is what I just thought of:

We land 1 sword on the hill 6 of PC. Depending on what he sees in PC, we can either unload the remaining swords on the hill and just go for it, or we can unload the other 3 on a mountain, where they can fortify and hang on a bit, while we go back for more.

There's the likelihood that Gibbon will switch to a galley, or that it's already building one which will be in the water when the war starts.

This is why we should take Gibbon out asap. Land the 4 swords on the mountain NE (1 rd), then take the city by storm on the 2nd round. Advance then on Baboon (1 rd, thanks to the road) and take it the other round. Total 4 rounds if no casualties.
PC can fall afterwards.

Gibbon could make a galley, but is a weak production city. If PC was lightly defended and we could destroy it, it would be a great blow to Monkey. They could hole up with a load of Numids in there and make it damn hard to take.

Gibbon is also on a hill, I think. I might be a bit more worried about any galley/s Gibbon builds before the war that could sink our troops before a landing. If I were Monkey I'd be building a galley in there now.

There are several reasons I want to gamble and try to take out PC:

1) It's their capital, and as such one of their best cities. The loss of it would hurt their empire badly.

2) It's the only city they have that can grow past size6, which means an added 50% defense bonus. If we strike quickly, they won't have a chance to pump its pop up and hole up there with lots of Numidians.

3) Destroying PC would make getting any troops they have south of it to the main front (north of PC) more difficult.
