Massively speeded up moves? Suffering from ads?

This happened to me for the first time today in C3C. All my units move at lightning speed, so fast you cannot always follow what is happening, instead of the normal rate. Enemy units move normally. What is the explanation for this and how can I turn it off? I started a new game and it continues. There are no preferences or hot keys that mention this "fast move" mode to my knowledge, though something similar was present in Civ2. It is quite annoying. Help!

It could be the CAPS LOCK. This will skip the animation, regardless of the settings.
