Freeciv under windows tries to set the locale by looking at the country settings under windows. Try another language to see if it makes a difference.

Not everyone visits the freeciv forum daily and lately i´ve had problems reaching the Apolyton site at all. You could have tried asking the question on the mailing list as well.

Thank you for a response.

I believe that is correct about Windows looking at the country settings under Windows. I guess my question should have been: How do I over-ride Windows language settings without changing the actual settings of Windows? How do I change the FreeCiv program?

There were more than 40 viewings of my original post. That was the reason for my second posting.

Support Apolyton, buy GURPS/ Alpha Centauri

Good question, I never tried out Freeciv in anything other than English and Dutch. I've never seen Poles or French complain about this so it must work automatically for them as well.

There's probably a way to change the language setting for the client. My advice would be to ask this at freeciv-dev or freeciv@freeciv.org

As for 40 viewings, those are probably lurkers or people just browsing for answers as well. Because they don't post I really have no idea what they want or if they could help, nor can i speak for them.

What gives guys? Don't you have anything to add?

I sent multiple e-mails to that address and still no response after more than a week. What a bunch of losers!

As for me, I have the same question, and I came here looking for an answer. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any

Tired of ads?

Seems jweeks did get his other answer:

(the first one is by changing the language settings)

Here is a germanclient.bat:

REM start of script:

set LANG=de
set PATH=%ProgramFiles%\Common Files\GTK\2.0\lib
civclient %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6
pause

REM end of script

I don't know why the PATH must be set, it must point to the
directory libgdk-.dll is in.

>Thank you!

Welcome.

Btw John, seeing your later post, snide remarks, snarky or insulting comments won´t make finding someone willing to help any easier.
