I thought a little bout this TCP/IP thread & came to an idea!

It would be very nice if there was something like TCP/IP "box" - a window were all online players are listed. To be listed you must just keep the specific window open on your desktop.

This is kinda of VBs/Js
Maybe there are people who know how to do it?

And then, when you want to play an TCP/IP game, you open the "Directplay Box" and see if there's anyone..
If there are, you send an ICQ / AIM / MSN / Yahoo instant message or PM them to come in your game or ask if anyone has set up a game..

I downloaded the list.. Its very big!
Also is there any coders amongst us?
I can code a PHP based list in which the players "online" status is reported by regularly giving a short report (in form of refreshal of list)
There will then be function which sends a query to server after each 5mins and refreshes the "box" if something new
Thats clients-side, but about server-side..
I just need to work out howto keep server side refreshing simultaneosly
On player, join - itd be very easy, but on leave..
Yes, some greater masters than me needed for advisory..

your idea does not work on that way.
You need it on a server where you can run a check of ICQ, MSN, Yahoo by cron job and then generate a new list each time.
On a PC that can't run proper, too much loads, and on a server you'll find none who gives you access for such.
The more, as most have no permanent IP.

ICQ had such feature times ago as addon, but so far I know its no longer existing, gives too much traffic and server loads.
