Can a destroyed Wonder be hexed back to life? Full PM-box? Change here!

I recall Yaroslav or Mercator saying it could be done?

Is there a hex-man who could bring back the Michelangelo's Chapel wonder for me in a scn or sav file?

Any takers?

I would repay the hex-hero with a small island and a regiment of harem chicks!

I'm all thumbs when it comes to hex...

But I'll try anything once! (within good taste)

What steps do I need to take, master?

Well, if Padma will walk me through it, I'd probably be able to do it.

No problem about GW though, I'll take care of that.

Rediscovering a Lost Wonder Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

No big deal to revive destroyed wonder.
Open the file with hex ed and toggle down to offset 00100.
You should see something like this:

00100|00 00 00 00|00 00 00 00|00 00 02 00|FF FF FF FF|
00110|FF FF FF FF|FF FF FF FF|FF FF FF FF|FF FF 02 00|
00120|FF FF 04 00|FF FF 1b 00|02 00 FF FF|FF FF FF FF|
00130|FF FF FF FF|FF FF FF FF|FF FF FF FF|FF FF FF FF|
00140|14 00 00 00|00 00 00 00|00 00 00 00|00 00 00 00|

Your hex ed probably shows the FF as ff but I had to use upper case to get the spacing more or less right. The block that contains the wonder info begins with "02 00" on the first line and ends with "14 00" on the fifth line. The zeros that precede the "02 00" and follow "14 00" are outside the block.

I believe the wonders are in the same sequence as on the "Wonders" pull-down.

The codes are given in Allard Höfelt's article on hex editing CIV II files as

ff ff = not built
02 00 = built in third city founded, 04 00 = built in 5th city in city list etc.
ef ff = destroyed

I copied this from an old game save so there are no "ef ff" but there will be one in your file for the destroyed chapel. Change it to "ff ff" and save.

Thanks, dude!
I knew I could rely on Sgt rmsharpe of the 101st!

If I can get this wonder back, I'll post the scen in a zip, on the Vendetta thread.

I removed all the USSR cities East the Volga (using shift-D) to make a battleground for the Reich and Red Empire.

I forgot that the Stalingrad factories (mike's chapel) was still there - doh!

So now I need it back, it's not a vital thing, but it would be nice to return it!

Okay, and a few geographic notes to go with it again:

Thimpu and Lhasa are in the wrong place. I'd suggest moving them to Korea, as Korea is yet again (gwargh!) without any cities.

Taiwan should instead be called Taipei, as Taipei is the city's name...

And just for the sake if it, I always found the red city on Antarctica to be kind of a pain in the butt. Would you mind?

Thanks for the hexxed zip, rmsharpe!

Shh!

You're not meant to know about the secret Red city!

Well, I guess it would be better to add some Korean targets instead of that city.
It was a remnant of an idea that never happened!

It's not just that city, like I said, Lhasa and Thimpu are in the wrong places, and just don't serve much to the atmosphere of the game anyway. They aren't strategically important cities like Tehran or Pyongyang.

I have added Pyongyang to the GEU, Namib to the city-starved PAC and Krasnovast to the lagging Reds.

If rmsharpe would be kind enough to do his hex again, it will be time to blast the hell out of Tehran!

Good idea.

I've found that Allard Höfelt's study on hex-editing saved games is an excellent guide to just about all the things I've wanted to do, though some trial and error is sometimes needed.

Are you thinking of just a list of what can be done only by hex-editing (as opposed to using any of the cheat menus) or something more fancy that might even include illustrated, step-by-step examples of how to do things?

I was thinking of only hex editing. Sort of like a "this is possible go find someone who can do it" or a "here is an elementary walkthrough for the less than genius". I for one can't figure out how to do it, even with Allard's instructions, and I don't have the time for trial and error. Regular game mechanics are easy for me, but get into code and I'm toast.
