Ok, CGN is hoping that Gunpowder and a musket upgrade is going to save their bacon. But this might be a problem with that plan, the location of their SP resource (if they even have any)!!
SP is available ONLY in Desert, Hills and Mountains. Of these tiles types, CGN currently (as of turn 160, 440AD) has the following:
2 Mountains - 1 with gold and the other with Iron, so no SP there.
21 Hills - 2 with Wine, 1 with Iron, 1 with Horses and 4 NOT roaded.
26 Desert - 1 not in territory and only 9 are roaded and the rest are NOT!!
So, there is a very good chance that they will not have it immediately available. Furthermore, there is another issue, and that is the fact that a large number of those tiles are very close to the war zone. When GWT realizes that CGN had SP, they will do what they can to further denign any more of this resourse to them.
Also, Is CGN ready to either road that tile, or get a quick build city settled on that source?? I don;t think they will and might not even be thinking about that very fact.
THIS needs to be communicated to them ASAP and the need to look at several options, for not only getting the resource, but keeping it, too.
They will need it for Cannons (Chem & Metal) and later Sapahi (Mil Trad), to get their UU, GA and to really turn the tide back onto GWT. But then, they need to make sure that they are able to keep that resource available to them, all of the way up to that point, or they are goners.

One thing we could do is move a pair of workers to Apolyton and gift them to CGN if need be. Do we know the current number and location of their workers? they might be horribly out of position for a quick sp road.

Or a city built in a strange place or some other thing. But they will KNOW that CGN had Muskets when it's either reported in the FAM screen OR they first see them. At that point in time, they too can do the same amount of analysis as I have done and come up with the same conclusions, that the source is likely close to the front and to press on regardless.
At the same time, they can send GCA with their galleys to cover some of the other spots. A very likely indicator is the presents of forted troops, where none would normally be at, especially with a war going on.
Of course, this could lead to a really good bit of misdirection, if used properly. Let's say that their source is somewhere in their rear areas (we can only hope), but CGN places things near the front, such that it would SEEM that their source is at that point. GWT/GCA would use a large amount of their forces to try to take out that phoney source, while the rest of the time, the real source is safe. This can be used for several of the likely locations, up to the point that GWT has GP.
Call it Operation Potemkin....
