EDIT : NEWSFLASH - DISASTER - THE IRON HAS GONE FROM OUR CONTINENT. THE RNG IS A MONKEY! I noticed at the end of the move while tinkering with the WF in Sil/Swind and seeing about a possible sword in 2 turns in Swindon.

I'll hold the save in case you are around later, Arrian.

"For CoD, the war is over".

Python send 132g

Izz builds worker
Cos builds Library
Burundy builds settler
Ciao builds spearman
Plymouth builds galley

Southern warrior is dead. Dam! Frumpy is alive but redlined. No barb galley to be seen. How could that have happened, when it was FOUR tiles from the barb galley?

Can't find war plan on the plan thread, but there was one on the T95 thread.

quote:

T98: Python reaches Swindon12. New galley from Plymouth moves 232. 12 warriors upgrade to swords in SF (480g). Sword complete in Silesia(?), or warrior upgraded in Silesia. Shuffle spears down by SF to shield SF1 from Monkeyvision.

from the Plan thread :

quote:

T98: Settler complete in Burundy, moves414. Spearman from Ciao moves to BC. 3 of the Swindon4 road, the other mines.

With Python a turn away from Sw-12, I expect the warriors can wait another turn before upgrading.

Frumpy will have to heal somewhere. Can't go into SF, because that is Pythons in two turns.

So Frumpy has to go to Plymouth and spend 2 turns there and won't heal until T101.

As they say : "The Barbarians always have a say in your plans..."

Wierd, SF has no barracks. Never mind, everything is a turn late and we save a few gold. Whenever a turn is replayed at the last minute to change a move something else gets missed intead.

So, 128g for a barracks. Shall we sent 4g back to Python?

Burundy settler moves west

Other settler moves west as far as BC

New Spear to Badcrumble

NW4 roads Cos9

Western lookouts either stay or move to expose more land, except 1WC that goes to BC.

718 Gold

New worker in Izz moves south toward jungle

Izz set to +5f +8s, order barracks (plan thread)

Burundy +2f, +7s , grows to 5 next tyrn - orders another settler.

CoS uses taxman (slider down to 10%), +7spt, orders Worker

{edit - had temple first before realising it should be a worker}

Sunday. Replayed the turn paying more attention to The Plan and WF. Shuffled CoS/Ciao for 5spt in Ciao.

Shuffled Swindon WF to use BC-6 irrigation to recover 1F that was short from plan. I may have got the WF wrong there last turn.

Don't know whether to tell Python the news about the Iron. It only gives them more time to reach the conclusion that they should take us out instead. I think its on the cards.

Dunno about research now - stay on gold this turn. btw, it would cost -38gpt to get Poly' in 4 turns. Even money is 7 turns.

Stayed on cash, 718g, +45gpt.

Silesia only needed 8s to complete sword (our only sword!), so used irr-grass Sw-9 to +2f

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Ok, we're not necessarily dead. Who knows, maybe Python will decide they don't want to kill us? In their shoes, I would actually try and take on Monkey alone (with whatever help CoD can provide).

I was thinking longer-term, though. Even if we survive, without iron, our continent is in BIG trouble. No knights. No pikes. No rails...

For now, we work with what we've got. New composition of galley landing force: 3 spears, 1 horse. We pillage like mad.

Our chariots should be recalled and upgraded... oh, no! I just remembered, the trade wasn't iron for horses... they were seperate, so our horses are still being sent to Python. DAMN.

So we can't even upgrade our chariots yet.

Suffering from ads?

The more I think about this, the more dumbfounded I am.

Our continent is HUGE, and has large chains of mountains & hills. 1 source of iron to begin with was odd.

What are the odds of it depleting and NOT reappearing back on our (massive, hill/mountain laden) continent?!?!

When I get home, I'm going to load the save, just to see it for myself (I trust you, don't get me wrong). It's one of those things one needs to see with their own eyes (like Stormia's lack of Saltpeter).

Criminal, isn't it? Maybe we'll have all of some other resource, like rubber. If we survive, maybe we should bee-line for Saltpeter units.

We can get Poytheism in 7 turns at break-even. Do you want to go at that pace or 4-turn and burn some gold (about 32gpt ISTR)?

Only one horses too for a 600-tile continent. That kind of scarcity would make C3C blush.

GODDAMNIT.

I loaded the save. I've seen it with my own eyes. No iron, anywhere on our landmass.

By the way, I must have missed this if it was pointed out recently - Monkey have built a city on that island off their west coast. Obviously they wanted those horses.

This means a couple of things. 1) They have a galley. 2) Our 2 galleys are more useful to the war effort now that Monkey is seaborne.
