When does the computer halt? It works fine here in winXP (english version tho)
running civ1, I guess your best bet is DOSbox or VDMSound.

Windows xp stops specially when i click 'exit' in the city status tool. But, sooner or later, it crashes anyway in 10 minutes.....
My system: Pentium 500mhz 256 RAM no problems with other programs.
For Father Beast: i'd like you do value judgements about the quality of my questions. I want to play civ for DOS in winxp b'cause i like it more than win version.....or to learn more about computers......or b'cause i want. Only that.
In fact, i can play with DOS version, but very slowly after increase the expanded memory of the system. And I could play without probolems with win98. If somebody knows more about this, i'd be very grateful.
Thanks anyway

I'm hoping you're talking about Civ1, cause '2 has been amazingly stable on my system, and I'm running Windows ME...

Thank you very much for everybody!!!
Now, i can play civ1 with a DOS emulator, and after changing the memory configuration of WinXP.
About civ2, i'll try it reinstalling winxp and overview the 'video system', but after a few days (i'm enjoying civ1 and i'm very busy!!!)...and after taking note of all you good advices!!
For Father Beast: i don't know where you are, but here that's a signal of...well, it isn't a good signal, next time be more carefuly with people of other cultures ;-))
Thank you for everybody again.
