Why does a PM I recieve from somebody still show their old screen name? Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I recieved a PM from someone and it was still showing their old screen name. But they had changed it to something different. Why is that?

not it was sent just a few days ago. And they have had that screen name for at least 6 months. no biggie. I hardly get any PM's anyways

English grammar, at least in the spoken vernacular, permits 'they' to be used as the singular, usually when the gender is unknown.
