Tried messing with the Civ advances. Did not do anything to monotheism, but for some reason I am getting it without researching it. Any hints as to why? Thank you.

Are you playing a scientific civ? They get a random tech for free, which is sometimes Monotheism.

I'm not sure what you mean... scientific civs get a free tech with every new era in PTW as well.

That said, if you aren't playing a scientific civ, I'm not sure what could be causing it.

yep even in vanilla civ they get advances free at new era.

I'm sorry, not only did I forget the free tech thing was from vanilla civ, but messing around in the editor I somehow changed america to a science civ. I should learn by now that any question I have that has not shown up on the forum is probably stupid.
