Not sure where else to post this but does anyone know for sure if DefenseCoef in govern.txt actually works? I adjusted it higher and higher and it seemed to have no effect on city defence values in that government at all.

It should do something: "DefenseCoef" appears only in:
code:
double CityData::GetDefendersBonus() const
{
return m_defensiveBonus * g_theGovernmentDB->Get(g_player[m_owner]->m_government_type)->GetDefenseCoef();
}

It's called in several places but it's effect may be uncertain. I'm looking at the bombard code now but I want to get back to DefenseCoef when it's done.
Re: settling. Yes, thanks, but I'm still waiting for my furniture.

is it possible to change the savegame format, specifically the name format? I'd like it to be something like " - ", or maybe include a turn number, so that it sorts by the age of the game, and not by the first number of the game year. I get the feeling this would be in the code somewhere....if so, it should be a simple change, and would help a lot of playters who save often, like me...

Obviously, but it would be a nice (albeit very minor) thing to have the gamedo that automatically. It seems liek a small incovneniusnce, but it's a real pain during a heated game to remeber toi edit the filename each time.

Can you explain what is going wrong/is supposed to happen? As usual, the description "* Fixed random civ chooser for scenarios (world map)" is not extremely helpful.
In the past, I have corrected a possible multiple assignment of the same civilisation at the start of the game. But I am not sure that this is what the description refers to.

Sorry, but I think you have to spell it out for me . I don't have the original and patched Activision versions installed to compare against.
When I go New game, Select scenario, World maps, Earth, player settings, I do arrive at this ugly screen with a lot of buttons, of which 21 are black and unselectable. It does not have a back button, nor has it a random button. The other functions seem to work as expected, provided you are willing to interpret Close as Ok.
I should just add a random button, and put some code behind it that will immediately crash the game . In the next release, I can just fix my own code to fulfill the description.
