Well for adding CityMod2 I would like to see it in our patch, unfortunatly some rework need to be done, so I have to postpone it a little bit, the diplomacy photos on the civ parchments must be replaced by adequate ones with a new diplomanager, and then only slic and some text file changes are left that should be incoorperated on source level for the slic and on the text file level for the text files, given these changes are good.

Cool, Martin. Actually as I finish my terrain tiles I was thinking about embarking on converting a lot of Civ3 cities (and RoN and AoK) to make a lot of new city graphics (mainly since a lot of ctp2 players are returning from civ3 like those graphics) but i'll talk later in the other thread.

As fgor diplomacy photos we can "borrow" from civ3 fans that have created good flag graphics and make those the new "parchments." I can help with the graphics if interested.

aAs for the Slic does this mean you are thinking about adding more slic functions?

I don't know if we need new parchments, I plan to start in summer on working on this new diplomanager, maybe I should present first a beta version, however we already have the basic design discussed.

In this case I mean code that does certain stuff in that mod should be moved to the source code itsself. For instance I made a sound fix, well that is now in the exe itsself, slic that deals with placing certain tile improvements for AIs. Dale as some kind of air unit slic in, FrenzyAI or Diplomod, a slic script that should improve the AI but this is at least questionable.

Of course you can propose any slic function that should be implemented, and of course if you implement these slic functions on your own they are very fast in.

I have no problem with that, the problem I see with that is that you can use the cheat editor, save your game, exit CTP2 and load this game again in which you have previously cheated and you have to accept the disclaimer again. That means that the game forgets after a reload that it is a cheat game. And that is definatly a bug.

When playing with a more original version for a couple of days, I noticed something odd. When something (e.g. construction complete) triggers a message at the start of your own turn, the slider is always moved to the bottom to display the new message. However, when nothing happens during your turn, but something (e.g. the AI starting to build a wonder) did happen during an AI turn, the slider is moved to the top! This will display the oldest messages.

I had been playing for quite a while with an unpublished modification that stacks all new messages at the top. So I never encountered this problem before .

Has it been decided to add this to the debug list?

Why adding this to the debug list of this thread, it just contains all the necessary changes, so that we can call any version something above 1.1, so feel free to look into it. However a save file version increment is needed for that, if there is no space reseved for it in the save file format. And in addition we should have a lot of more whishes we should add to the save file format. That should be well considered so that we don't need to update the save file version every day or something like this.

Not sure where else to post this but does anyone know for sure if DefenseCoef in govern.txt actually works? I adjusted it higher and higher and it seemed to have no effect on city defence values in that government at all.

It should do something: "DefenseCoef" appears only in:

code:
double CityData::GetDefendersBonus() const { return m_defensiveBonus * g_theGovernmentDB->Get(g_player[m_owner]->m_government_type)->GetDefenseCoef(); }

Got spare money?

is it possible to change the savegame format, specifically the name format? I'd like it to be something like " - ", or maybe include a turn number, so that it sorts by the age of the game, and not by the first number of the game year. I get the feeling this would be in the code somewhere....if so, it should be a simple change, and would help a lot of playters who save often, like me...

Obviously, but it would be a nice (albeit very minor) thing to have the gamedo that automatically. It seems liek a small incovneniusnce, but it's a real pain during a heated game to remeber toi edit the filename each time.

It's confirmed? I missed that...

Anyway, that means we're now down to 4 MP bugs and 2 SP ones (Though I wouldn't be surprised if MP needed more work beyond those bugfixes listed here.)

I'm slightly surprised the World Map bug isn't fix yet, it's easy enough to replicate. I think we've had 1 report on the sound bug ever since this project started, so that's a very rare bug if it exists at all...

Can you explain what is going wrong/is supposed to happen? As usual, the description "* Fixed random civ chooser for scenarios (world map)" is not extremely helpful.
In the past, I have corrected a possible multiple assignment of the same civilisation at the start of the game. But I am not sure that this is what the description refers to.

Just try to start the World Map Scenario, it will become clear very soon (to be precise, when you get to the civ chooser)

It happens to all scenarios that are created 'by Nation', BTW, or at least all 2 that I tested

Sorry, but I think you have to spell it out for me . I don't have the original and patched Activision versions installed to compare against.

When I go New game, Select scenario, World maps, Earth, player settings, I do arrive at this ugly screen with a lot of buttons, of which 21 are black and unselectable. It does not have a back button, nor has it a random button. The other functions seem to work as expected, provided you are willing to interpret Close as Ok.

I should just add a random button, and put some code behind it that will immediately crash the game . In the next release, I can just fix my own code to fulfill the description.

I think the problem could then be one of two things (maybe even both):

1) The game crashes on the civ chooser screen on some systems but not all (then again, I probably just somehow managed to f*ck up my install -- that wouldn't be a first; I'll do a reinstall ASAP to check)

2) I think the game is supposed to let you pick *all* civs, there aren't supposed to be 21 unselectable choices. The way to test that is for someone besides me to create a new scenario, give starting locations to all civs 'by nation' and then try to run it: if not all civs are selectable, we have a winner bug...

In case the problem is #1, here's my crash.txt:

I'm clearly suffering from sleep deprivation (stupid exams...)

The best way to test it is to compare it to the original patched game: all civs are indeed selectable there, so that is indeed the problem. Less obvious than I thought, but still a problem.

But I still think it would be a good idea for someone to test how it works if you create a new scenario and make all civs selectable: the date of the savegame of that scenario is 1-12-2000, which I think means it's a file added in the patch. The problem might simply be that Activision just forgot to place a few starting locations...

OK, thanks. I will assume it is problem #1 and have a look at the crash text.

Problem #2? The unselectable choices are the ones that have recently been added by "some guys" in the source code thread. The original 40-something Activision civilisations are all selectable.
