Several of our cities will soon level off growth in favor of maxxing production. And, if this isn't enough for our military needs, Egg Roll could build a barracks and then go to work on units after the market completes in 4 turns, though that would pretty much rule out another wonder anytime soon.
So... where are we going to put this production? Here's a summary of our major producers (extra-short summary in bold):
-Buffet: Leveled off at 10 spt and has a barracks. Can do any unit at maximum efficiency. Produces 10 spt; that allows it to do any unit in cost/10 time.
-Chop Suey: Will soon level off at size 6 and 10 spt, and has a barracks. Once it levels off, it can do any unit at maximum efficiency. Produces 10 spt; that allows it to do any unit in cost/10 time.
-Wonton: Currently producing warriors at 5 spt, but will soon level off at size 6 and 6spt. With 6spt, 5-turn horses (and swords if we want to do them the hard way) are the obvious choice for production. Produces 6 spt, ideal for 5-turn horses.
-Sweet & Sour: Will have grown to size 6 next turn. It will also be producing 6 spt, also making it a natural for horses (and swords). Produces 6 spt, ideal for 5-turn horses.
-Char Shu: Currently finished its first catapult. It is tiny right now, but will be large enough to produce 4 spt (at size 4) in 10 more turns. Perhaps we should consider a barracks soon? Currently a 2-spter, but will work its way up to 4 spt soon (10 turns).
-Fried Rice: Occupied with the task of growing right now, making its first catapult slog along at 1 spt. Can jump to 3 spt, allowing 7-turn cats, once it grows to size 2 in 7 turns. Could potentially produce 4 spt by growing to size 4, but I'm not sure whether that's currently worth the effort. Currently occupied with growth; works its way up to 3 spt for 7-turn catapults in 7 turns.
-Egg Roll: I put this one at the end because it is not a current military producer. At 13 spt and climbing to 15 spt. However, it will take 18 turns for it to grow to size 9 where it can get that 15 spt, and it lacks a barracks. In an emergency, it could be at that coveted 15 spt and have a barracks in 8 turns, but that would mean doubling its growth time from size 8 to 9 from 10 turns to 20 turns, and once it cuts off growth at size 9, it can put out ? spt; and wouldn't that be best spent toward a wonder like Leo's? Currently devoted to building; could be turned in to a 15spt producer of 2-turn horses in 9 turns, but it would probably be better to have it grow larger and produce a wonder.
-Dim Sum: Currently building pop units, but could also convert over to military production; if we mined some of the plains around it, which could be supported by its grass cow, its shield production would shoot up. It would first need to build a barracks though, and we would lose a source of pop units. Could also be turned in to a military producer in an emergency, though on a smaller scale.
-Schezuan: Like Dim Sum, it is currently using its food sources for fast growth, which is then put in to pop units (workers specifically); but, like Dim Sum, it could convert that food to the ability to work low-food tiles like forests to increase its production. That production could be turned to a low-shield project like catapults, though we would lose the workers that it currently produces. Could become a cat producer in an emergency
-Moo-Gu-Gai-Pan: Low shield production, which is currently devoted to a temple. However, it could become a moderate military producer, perhaps of catapults. Could become a cat producer in an emergency
Now...
Our military as of 510 (next turn) will be:
-15 warriors (2 devoted to MP till Rep, 7 currently patrolling/forting away from our cities; the other 6 ready to be upgraded)
-18 spears (4 devoted to MP till Rep, the other 14 free to move around)
-4 Swordsmen
-8 Horsemen
-3 catapults
-2 galleys
How many more warriors do we want? Do we want more spears after that, or should our current warrior producers switch to horses once iron is re-connected? And do we want more galleys? Chop Suey can do 3-turn galleys soon when it grows, but that will take its attention away from land units.
