This is not COMPLETELY Off Topic...

For those who don't keep an eye on the Community forum, after Poly was down for a time about an hour ago for upgrades, the search function has been massively improved. Now you can search for old threads in the Strat forum on many topics, which may help us all considerably at times.

For example I have just found several dozen threads on War Weariness, many in the Strat forum. I will be picking through these now, and I strongly encourage anyone else to use the search now, as it could really save us hours of testing now we can access past knowledge more easily.

Whilst searching through all those threads on War Weariness, I also located one of my first posts on Poly! And I was complaining about Civ3 too! ROFLMAO

The times they are a-changin'...

What combat calculator are folks using these days?

I have been using this one from civfanatiks for awhile - but it has not been updated to reflect the new units now available.

I use this one, too. If a unit is missing, I just choose a different one with the same key characteristics (attack or defense, depending on what its role in combat shall be).

I use my own combat calculator using a spreadsheet I made when I actually bother to use one at all. Generally, however, I just play on feel.

whatever happened to Zachriel? Has he changed names, or is just gone? He seemed to be a very astute civ player in the early days of Civ3, but nothing heard of from him in a long time.

He occassionally updates his site with GOTM AARs. Otherwise I can't answer your question; I haven't seen him posting on poly much and don't visit CFC very often. I only know him from those AARs (which are fun reads; I recommend them for entertainment if nothing else, and it has some interesting strat content too ).

his website is certainly well done. very impressive, very fun mixing in pictures and history with the screenshots. a shame it isn't a part of a major forum or something, it deserves more traffic.
