And this is exactly what I meant earlier. This is what creates too much BS, unnecessary.
As for me, I don't really CARE what the Belgians think of our country as long as we're not enemies. The country relations are handled by others, business wise it matters who your partner is it's business, not popularity contest, they don't give a crap if they see 4 hippies hand in hand chanting crap, they care about their partner and the business.
Diplomatic relations are not based on polls and shouldn't be.
You can't even say that 'Germans don't like us' Do you know them? Well the poll says so, yeah BS warning right here.
Not liking some policy != hating a country. And the polls changes results every month anyway.
About enemies, there's not really need for a poll to see who the enemy is.
Polls like these are utter scheisse, they do more HARM than good. THESE polls CREATE stereotypes more than anything.
You said that you want to know what they think because it's important for example deciding if you buy the product or not. Well congratulations if you have a BS poll like this that is interpreted wrong in general audience like most likely it will be and you'd be boycotting something that is based on misinterpretations anyway. And why would you not buy if someone doesn't like you anyway? This is exactly what I mean that they do more harm than good and create stereotypes and general bullshit.
I feel strongly about it too. I mean you can always have polls, but I just think they're total BS.
edit: If I go to Russia, in some of the border villages they don't like us according to polls, but I don't care. If I'd go there, I see people as people, be it Russian people. NOT people who 'hates us according to 1998 December poll, better not buy anything'. I know this is NOT what you meant or said, but you get my point, I don't suck in these stereotypes.
One day Britney Spears is #1, second day it's someone else, but if you're allegedly hated, you always remember that, and not that the next month it was different, or someone else.

Well Pekka - i just dont think it can be ignored, sure its stupid, but when its at a level that people will happily(i guess?) kill themselves, while taking as many of the 'evil enemy' with them as possible - it just doesnt seem an option to bury ones head in the sand and hope it all goes away?
These are issues i would want to take face on and try to resolve.
And polls from the public are important - in a democracy atleast its what you as a candidate will spend alot of time trying to work out, and shaping your policies to persuade voters to vote for you(and having consequences on foriegn policy if you win etc).
Not sure if this is so relevant outside of democracies
I just think we need to wake up in the west - be real world leaders and not encourage more events like in America and Spain.............

If it's really true that the majority of Muslims support suicide bombings, then they shall also receive the corresponding treatment.

And people think differently in the US, in Europe, in Asia.. everywhere they think differently and see different picture than you think you are giving them. It's not necessarily negative though!! But it's different.
People talk differently, Lost In Translation.
THey have different meanings, these polls are likely to to be interpreted differently, depends on the questions and what they're like, but when you read it you see something, when I read the same thing, I see it a little bit differently. Just a tiny bit, but it's a bit different.
You put this in a big soup, you got a mess. Polls like these are too difficult to set up to have them show any kind of potential real answers and opinions. And that's why they should be killed before they go to public.
When you think that there are tons of people that think you're a bad person just because you are some nationality, then that's not right.. blah I've done talking in this thread about what I mean. Either you guys get it, or you get me wrong, and I don't give a crap because I'm in a bad mood now.
