Let's confront the issues instead. Which definition of 'gay' would you adhere to?

And so are most Americans here

It's ok for people to have an "opinoin"... it's ok to discuss the issues... but it seems like some people have a problem in how they express them.

Remember.. discuss the issues, not the posters. People will disagree... but that doesn't mean it's ok to start throwing around personal insults.

Now, similarly pedophilia can be defined in two ways:

1. someone who is attracted to children.

2. someone who abuses children.

You know, I love it when people compare and contrast the sexuality and sex lives of lesbians and gay men with those of child molesters. Or the actions and relationships of drug addicts.

'...a gay person can abstain from gay sex MORE easily than a drug addict can abstain from drugs.'

You missed your calling. Psychology, with specific reference to human sexuality, is clearly your forte.

So, according to you, my sexuality is like an addiction, but a weaker addiction than a chemical dependency. Or my relationships with consenting adults are similar to the relationship between a junkie and their fix, and presumably their dealers or suppliers. Of course I'm not quite sure who the poppy farmers or coca growers are in the gay sexuality=chemical abuse equation, perhaps my parents, or Leakey's Lucy, who knows....

More to the point- why would I choose to abstain from having sex with another adult? If we were both of a similar mind, and consenting, I fail to see why you would assume either of us would wish to refrain from a perfectly natural normal human act.

Unless of course- it has something to do with religion?

Hmm- could it be - I wonder- something to do with your chosen faith?

Don't tell me, I think I understand- you chose your faith, and you can abstain from it any time you like, - just not yet.

Man-on-woman is okay; he just has to like it really, really, REALLY rough, so that he punches through into her uterus.

As I understand Dayton law, at least. Which is to say not at all.

Even if it was the case that all gays were child molesters, it still wouldn't mean that gay sex between consenting adults was wrong any more than a heterosexual child molester having sex with an adult woman would be wrong.

So the child molesting stuff is at best irrelevant.

I know this isn't a serious point but IIRC there are far more priests violating thier vows of celibacy by engaging in relationships with adults than abusing children.

I wasn't insulted by that, but much more so by your stubborn tendency to use pedophilia as a legitimate, parallel example with homosexuality.

If I could get a dime for everytime you and others have used such argument fallacies in the past, I would have paid off all my college debt by now.

Certainly we don't condemn the people who commit sin. But it was never commanded that we should ignore sins themselves, or not teach what the faith believes about what is sins.

You guys are still not getting the point (amazingly!).

The argument that things should not be illegal if they are between consenting adults (or on your own) is wrong. There are plenty of things out there which are (rightly) illegal which do not harm anyone other than the consenting adults who take part.

I am sick to death of your tirades against anyone who might even remotely disagree with a post made by a member of poly's 'gay community'. What is wrong with you people? Do you have no opinions of your own?

What thing is illegal that should be illegal that does not harm anyone other than the parties involved in the act?

I cannot think of one thing that fits that description.

Actually, the argument is correct, but incomplete. There are places where the government has a "compelling public interest" to intervene - for example, the case in Germany where one guy asked the other to eat him.

Another way of looking at it is this: the government determines that anyone who would give consent to such acts as inherently insane, and therefore by definition cannot give consent.

It is clear that homosexuality falls under neither category.
