As both Kloreep and Zargon know by now, I've been wanting to keep our southern build-up near LL something of a mystery which is why I'd recommended the big stack of units near Kung Pao instead of in Kung Pao in case the city is investigated. From that stack our warriors can get into 3 different cities and fortify in the same turn if necessary.
However what prompted this thread was something Zargon mentioned while we were playing the turn. He had mentioned that they would be able to see the stack but not it's composition if the city were investigated. I don't really do much city investigation, but I couldn't sleep so I decided to test it. My results were that if you investigate a city the only units surrounding the city that can be seen are those that can be seen by the investigator through normal means (i.e. unit vision radius). So our SoD should be safe from prying eyes.
If anyone wants to do their own test I set up a little scenario with several units, gold, and writing to start with. Unzip the file and place it in the C3C scenario directory. Start up a 2 player PBEM game with it and move the first civs units to the SW and SE. End the turn and start up the next player and investigate the city. You shouldn't be able to see any units. Then move some of the 2nd players units to the west and end turn. Move the 1st players units east and then investigate the city and you should see only the units that are in normal vision radius.
