The Home of the Sim Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

This thread is designed to be the home of the simulation. Every few turns I will update the .biq file and post here. Anyone that wants to use it can download it to help plan out our moves.

Please note if you use the .biq file you must set the game up as a 2 player PBEM in the multiplayer menu on the main C3C screen. Otherwise your worker actions will not appear as they do in the actual game. It's a quirk of PBEMs. The second player will be on a one tile island and should be set to build wealth with 0% science and no growth. That way the second player can be cycled through by hitting enter several times.

Traits of the sim:
- A rough estimate of our true starting tile. I cannot get the exact spot.
- Set up on a standard map at emperor difficulty settings.
- Barbarians have been turned off as this is just a simulation not the real thing.
- The outer edges are a guesstimate by me until we have actually uncovered the tile. I have added them based on my guess of what they will actually be by how they make the tiles that we have already uncovered appear.

I'm not quite as clever as Rho with a savegame that replicates all the moves, but I have updated the sim to include all the terrain improvements around our city and all new land discovered since the old one.

Although a little unfinished, this can be used to model what tiles the city would work if it were to grow to another pop point with different governor settings on.

2590BC (half-finished) Sim.

Get a bigger avatar today!

Here is the sim of the last turn. Some mistakes are inevitable, so I apologise in advance.

2310bc sim

EDIT: Found one, no two mistakes: I can't change the amount of food/shields the two cities have, so they are going to be a bit behind in developement.

Rho or anyone else - how did you get the sim exactly like that, with the right food, shields etc? Did you set it all up and actually play the game through from the start following all our orders?!

Yes, that's exactly what I did. It gets progressively more difficult as you go along though.

This thread seems to be dead in the water...

Do we still have need for it...

Understanding how hard it must be to sim with this much action

If not required it can be un-topped

Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

Sorting out all the food and shields etc sounds HARD, but a bog standard sim in some cases can be useful - for example in testing which tile the Governor setting will give us free production from. Admittedly this is quite a limited and rare sort of usage, but still...

You have to set it up (with the proper Map Updates), then run and save it (just to get the save file to use C3MT to modify things) and then run it up to get your workers all in line to what they are supposed to do.

When I was MoI of the PTWISDG, I was using both my spreadsheets and a sim (to check my work, so to speak). The spreadsheets are great for future planning, especially whe dealing with multiple interlocked cities and changing curcumstances, like worker actions, but the Sim helped me to get a better overall feel for how things are going and what needs to be done. It's especilly useful for figuring out the timing of particular events, like multiple worker moves and such.

Oh, By the way, I'm back..... hehe.
