If you tell me what to do, I'm sure I could atleast handle some of the other teams diplo. I would also require a save to do this successfully, though, Arrian.

Heh, wrong thread Krill, but close enough. I get them confused at times too. There is a save game thread, and a save game discussion thread.
Also, you may want to disguise your email address so spambots can get ahold of it and spam your account with crap emails.
My email, for instance: mishlea//AT//msn//DOT//com. I'm not even sure that's good enough of a disguise. Most people substitute nonsensical things for the @ and dot, and use a key at the bottom of their post to explain it.
...
New message to MAST:
quote: OPD,
Gotcha. CoD essentially has 5 members. Cort Haus and I are the most active. We two play the turns (mostly him) and I handle the diplo. Mountain Sage and Frustrated Poet comment when they can. Krill just recently joined us, and may in fact be helping me out on the diplo front, once we bring him up to speed.
Ok, some business: would your team be interested in a mutual "non-intereference" pact? Under such an agreement, each team would agree not to get involved in affairs on the other continent for a set number of turns, unless of course the other team ok's it (and the existence of a pact with another team does not preclude it).
If you are willing to consider such and agreement, and negotiate in good faith, I can divulge more information, such as the specific reason CoD wants a non-intereference pact.

And this was sent to OPD. Arrian responded to PM while I was righting this PM, after OPD had PMed me about the SPAM business outside. I rewrote the PM,
quote: quote:
quote: Also there is nothing really that other teams can do to help monkey perhaps invention would help them but that hasn't even been researched yet and given the current climate on our continent there is close to zero chance of anyone making a millitary move against you. |
Monkey would have to have alot of gold for that to happen. With the GA, Some of our members have questioned the logic in helping Monkey, and have not come up with an answer that we liked.
quote: quote:
Don't be alarmed but we did give LL contact with monkey a few days ago (before monkey started seriously offering gold for tech), but that is more to do with our continent and the fact that I think it's more fun if all civs have contact especially if there is alot of activity in public forum |
Personally, I think you might be right, but I am not a leader in CoD, I'll let those strategists work on the tactics.
On a different note: I have recently been made a foreign ambassador, and so I ask you of several thngs:
How are you MASTers? We are researching Invention at the moment and wish to assess future tech trades with you, such as tech for tech, and gold for tech.
See you soon,

And a reply from OPD:
quote: Mast are ok ATM, we're a bit behind in tech, probably 1-2 techs behind Tabe and SS in real terms. We're currently doing chivarly which we owe to SS and Tabe for previous deals. Our economy is now looking good, although alot of our money goes to other civs for lux payments and we haven't even started to buy strategic resources (horses) which will likely have to do soon.
I guess you don't want to aquire chivalry?
However the tech thing is not really that big an issue now that there are more teams to trade with, the big issue ATM is how the battle lines will be drawn which will likely make the tech deficit an irrelevance, unless we get gangbanged that is.
ATM, at least, it is more politically safe for us to stay with our continent for tech deals - for example tabe aren't going to attack us while we're researching chivalry for them, or if we are paying them gpt for a tech....
But this may change in the future.
We're ok diplomatically aswell, we're good buddies with SS and we're cool with Tabe and LL.
What do you think to the situation between Tabe and LL BTW?

4 active members, Krill We've got you and Sleepy now
We're not in a position to trade MAST any horses yet, as we're at war, out of trading range until Astronomy, and already sharing Comedia's sole source with Python. (Comedia is the name of our continent). However once Astro is here maybe we won't need our horses for a bit.
As for Iron, I'd need to check see how many MAST have, but I suspect we won't need it until Railroad, and we might need to be in a cosy alliance with someone over there to get any.
With no Iron, and only one Horses Comedia must be full of the later resources, hopefully starting with Saltpeter.
It's hardly Rocket Science to work out that CoD & Python need Longbows to progress against Numids, so there seems little point in denying it, and it would be good diplo to offer some tidbit of news, but I think we should at least be a bit cagey on principle. How about casually saying something like "Well, they defended elastically, and as massed Numids are formidible opponents for Archers and Horsemen, we are certainly looking to benefit from more sophisticated weaponry as it becomes available."
On their horses problem, I suggest we just hint that post-Astronomy, various trading opportunities will present themselves.
Arrian might want to offer a view on this.

I did not want to let on that we had invention, that was the only reason i wrote "ARE waiting". And I thought that MAST had no iron? unless they are trading for it. I would like to get the light house, but if we can trade for the upper branch, there is no reason to build it.
here is the draft:
quote: Hi OPD,
Yes, you are right. We're waiting for the longbows to finally evict Monkey from "Comedia", our continent. They have a sea wall on Howler island, so there is no way of killing them off. We are never going to underestimate the NM again, either, I can tell you, and they did not really make any mistakes when defending.
Our forum is full of life compared to yours, it seems. We have 4 active members, Arrian, Cort Haus, sleepy, and myself.
Just wondering, but what techs do you have? If you are going up the theology branch, is there a chance of you trading with us? Monkeys propaganda seems to have worked

What else do you think I should change?
OK, I've sent this to OPD, you had enough time to comment.
