Greetings!

I am pleased to know that we FINALLY have contact!

As you may know, our trade of contacts unfortunately prevents us from sharing contact with the other teams on this side of the water.

However, there was no such stipulation to the map. I am recommending my team gift you our new and up to date map that your team may have an equal understanding of the world as a welcomming gesture.

I look forward to many fruitfull negotiations in the future, and should you need to contact Team Tabemono, myself, Kloreep, and Sharpe are the primary contacts as of now, with myself becomming ever more active in that role.

UnOrthOdOx of Tabemono

Greetings from the Simian civilization. It is indeed good to hear from you. We only wish that our contact had come at a brighter time in Monkey history. You may or may not be aware that we are currently at war with both Monty Python and Cake or Death, our two “neighbors’ on our continent. This was not a war of our choosing. We Monkey’s were building peacefully when a stack of 17 Python Swords, 5 horse, 4 spears, and 8 catapults showed up adjacent to one of our outlying cities. Python made it clear that their intention was the defeat of the Monkeys and the annexation of our territory. The bizarre thing is that Python’s homeland is in the north end of the continent, Cake or Death in the central, and Monkey in the south. Their current plan, which we have confirmed from them, is to eliminate Monkey and for Python to set up their FP in the south.

This seems strange to us. Our land is not great. They know that from exploration and map trading. And it is reflected in the scores to-date. We have made counter-offers to both Python and CoD (obviously separately) that would make greater sense in the long-term for each of them. It is clear that CoD has convinced Python that this is the way to go, so while Python does the majority of the military dirty work, CoD continues to expand n the central plain of the continent. In that respect, hats off to Arrian for getting Python to buy into the scheme.

The end result however, is desperate times for us Monkeys. We have abandoned 3 frontier cities, and have pulled back to our central core of 7 cities, with one fortified city, Fort Siamang, hanging tough on the isthmus leading to the south. We have also had our GA triggered while we are researching republic. Although not the optimal path, we clearly had no choice as CoD had landed troops on the coast of our core that needed to be dealt with. Our only trump card here is that Park Rangers (ie. numidian mercenaries) do very well on defense.

The other point you should be aware of is that CoD stiffed us on a tech deal for republic. This was some dozen turns before the attack came, and in retrospect, was a harbinger of things to come. We missed the sign. So, to summarize… under what we assume is CoD’s direction, the two civs have deprived us of republic, triggered our GA while in despotism, and have descended en masse with swords, horse and catapults.

Regarding tech deals between Monkey and Tabemono, I cannot think of much that can be done. Republic does not help us. We cannot afford the turns of anarchy with a government change. And as we were already researching it, we will have it done by the end of our GA, assuming our civilization still exists.

We would be very interested in a map trading deal - swapping world maps. We can forward our map next turn.

However, the main purpose of this letter is to caution you that if Monkey is eliminated, there will be two uber civs on this continent. However, all is not lost; we are bolstering our defenses. We Monkeys still have some bite left. Therefore, our plea, and also our recommendation, is that if at all possible, Tabemono and other civs muster a military effort, shall we say a crusade, to restore some semblance of a balance of power on our continent. To that end, please feel free to share this information – in fact, this letter – with other civilizations you may be in contact with.

I appreciate the cost and risk involved with inter-continental warfare at this stage of the game, but if CoD and Python are successful with their current plan, they will become a powerful and deadly alliance. There is clearly a downside to inaction. If you have galley access to the north end of our continent, and this is what we assume is the case, we urge you to consider military action as soon as possible.

I full recognize the obvious self-interest with which we ask for you to undertake this. However, I must reiterate the medium and long-term threat that is posed by the CoD and Python alliance.

I also appreciate that my reputation for misinformation may still follow me from the ptwdg and the Vox-GS war. Therefore, I strongly urge you and your team-mates to consult with Hot_Enamel and conmcb25. They can confirm the historical context, the current situation, and our recommendation for military action.

We would be willing to meet in chat to discuss further.

We urge you to consider our recommendation.

Sincerely …Beta of Monkey.

Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

I had an impromptu chat with Beta about other demogames and it led to this chatlog. I'm not sure how UnO wanted to handle the information we would give them since we can't really help them out so I tried not to give too much out.

quote:

Beta> Are you Tabemono?
Rhothaerill> Yes
Beta> You saw my message?
Rhothaerill> UnO posted it.
Beta> HELP!!!!!
Rhothaerill> He's the FAM
Beta> Beware CoD and Arrian.
Rhothaerill>
Beta> What he has Python doing is amazing.
Rhothaerill> We've heard
Beta> I am surprised Oct X bought into it.
Beta> But them - I am not so sure Oct X is the best civ player around.
Rhothaerill> It might have been SirRalph too
Beta> Any thoughts?
Beta> True.
Rhothaerill> Not really. I don't have any official capacity in that game other than giving my opinions on everything.
Beta> No love lost - Vox (beta) and GoW (H_E) on the same team.
Rhothaerill> I don't know if that's really the case.
Beta> I was simply asking about Oxt X and his civ capabilities.
Beta> I would not put you on the spot.
Beta>
Beta> Unless you wanted me to.
Rhothaerill> I mean Arrian is on my team in the MZODG and he and I get along just fine. Con and he get along just fine too.
Beta> Don't get me wrong - Arrian is great.
Beta> And his plan - if they can pull it off - is masterful.
Beta> I don't think Arrian would carry any grudges.
Beta> SR - I'm not sure - but he is not around.
Rhothaerill> I think he is done with the game, but he was the main guy for Python since the beginning.
Beta> And for all the pressure we are under - we are still on good terms with CoD and Python.
Beta> That's what this game is about.
Beta> ptwdg 'lite'.
Rhothaerill> Yeah.
Beta> So - Oct X. Know much about him?
Rhothaerill> There haven't been the tempers flaring like in the first one
Beta> Agreed.
Rhothaerill> I really don't know him at all
Beta> I know him from the forums and stuff - great to get along with - I just don't know his civ capabilities.
Rhothaerill> I know he is the consul for us in the C3CIDG, but I haven't really seen him do much yet
Rhothaerill> Togas and con are carrying the consul load...and Oct was the one that got the three month vote.
Beta>
Beta> Happens.
Rhothaerill> Yeah...I voted for Kloreep though.
Beta> So who is the boss of Tabemono.
Rhothaerill> Zargon is our leader and military mind. Kloreep does most of the turn playing and MOI orders, UnO came back recently and revitalized the FAM, and Sharpe and I give our opinions.
Rhothaerill> How about you guys?
Beta> Ah - Ok. ZX is a good guy.
Beta> At any rate - we at Monkey look forward to your response.
Rhothaerill> UnO will probably be sending you something within a few days.
Beta> Sounds good.
Beta> In the meantime - pray to the great Simian Godz in the treetops,.
Rhothaerill>
Beta> And wish us RNG luck.
Rhothaerill> So has Python done any roleplaying about chopping down your forests?
Beta> Our Park Rangers are ready!!!
Beta> No - it has been pretty quiet.
Beta> They delared war when they sent the save.
Beta> So I asked:
Beta> " I guess a tech deal is out of the question then."
Rhothaerill>
Beta> After that - we appealed to both CoD and Python regarding the long-term startegic logi of what they were up to.
Rhothaerill> I guess so
Beta> Both said sorry. This is our plan.
Beta> The war goes on.
Rhothaerill> Did you guys do a lot of exploring or did you just make contact with Python recently?
Beta> Other than that - not much roleplaying or trash-talking.
Beta> No - we have known them for a bit.
Beta> And we have a complete map of the continent.
Rhothaerill> Oh.
Beta> They are along way from us - which is why the attck was a bit unexpected.
Beta> In all honesty - we thought Python would side from us to squeeze CoD out of the middle. Makes a lot more sense for them.
Rhothaerill> I can imagine.
Beta> Python is now talking about pushing out Monkey - and setting up their FP in our lands - so that their civ is split into two separet parts.
Beta> ???
Beta> Oh well. This is what we have.
Rhothaerill> It's interesting that they would try to have their second core so far away.
Rhothaerill> But I don't suppose it matters since this is PTW not C3C
Beta> And I have been dying to publicly post SPAM. The Society for the Prevention of Aggression against Monkeys.
Rhothaerill> I saw that in your sig a while back but then it disappeared.
Beta> Yes - that is what is driving it.
Beta> I asked the other two about posting it publicly - but then everyone would figure out waht is going on.
Beta> The two being CoD and Python.
Rhothaerill> Yeah. Hopefully you guys can contact everyone else soon so you can start your SPAM posts. Are you planning anything like the Voxian Information Minister posts?
Beta> In effect - it would be out of game contact before meeting in the game.
Beta> Something like that. But more of a charitable approach.
Beta>
Beta> Give generously...
Beta> Save the Monkeys.
Rhothaerill>
Beta> That sort of thing.
Beta> And we do want the rest of the world to get off their butts and mount a crusade.
Beta> Otherwise - Arrian is coming for you next.
Beta>
Beta> All pretty innocent really.
Rhothaerill> LOL
Rhothaerill> You should probably say something like that in the main forum when you have the chance.
Rhothaerill> That was funny.
Beta> Listen - I should be crashing.
Rhothaerill> Okay
Beta> Don't worry - I will!
Rhothaerill> Ah yes it's 11 back there isn't it
Beta> Getting close. And too much fresh air today.
Rhothaerill> Nice chatting with you again.
Beta> Ditto.
Rhothaerill> Hopefully the new PBEM will be able to start tomorrow.
Beta> Take care Jared.
Rhothaerill> You too Bruce
Beta> Yup!

Greetings,

First of all, thank you for the lengthy reply PM. Sorry I didn't respond last night, but I just bought Sacred on Friday, and sat down for the first time to play it online last night.

I'm afraid with the current situation, we are going ot be unable to send military aid for several reasons, though. Here is a full rundown of THIS side of the water:

First of all, we are on the complete other side of the map from you. We are on the far side of our landmass, and it's only a matter of fortune that we made it across to your side when we did. There IS a safe crossing at one point, as we can now see, but it is deep within Latin Lover waters. At present, our navy isn't up to the task either, frankly.

On the domestic front, Sunshine is the tech Leader by far. They are playing up the peacefull "sunshine" personality, but we suspect it might in fact be a ruse.

MAST is the local runt, being given some pathetic lands and no Iron.

Latin Lovers have halted research and we suspect they are preparing a mass upgrade of some kind, most likely to either legions or medeival infantry, and are rather difficult to deal with diplomatically. They have also been aggressively settling along our border recently. So, militarily right now, our focus is on defending against what appears to be an impending attack from Latin Lovers.

Should LL be convinced, though, something might be worked out. They have a galley somewhere along the coast as well, so contact with them should be relatively soon. I'll also pass along your message for them.
