Letter to Mina Harker, 30th of March 1854
My dearest Mina,
My studies are once again hindered by the cruel stroke of fate. I went today to the library in order to try and research the hidden location of the artifact your father mentions, but the librarian refused to open the door to me. The odd fellow insisted that "He" would not like it, were I to enter the library, and that "He" would see that I was dealt with when the time came.
I have to admit to being slightly unnerved by the conversation, but dismissed the thoughts and concentrated my efforts into a manual search of the castle grounds and buildings for any sign of recently disturbed soil, suggesting digging, or for any sign of a secret passage or doorway.
After a long, but fruitless, afternoon I entered the kitchens where I intended to question the kitchen staff about the secrets of the building, as it is often my opinion that servants know this better than their masters. The kitchen was empty, so taking advantage of this golden opportunity I indulged in a proper investigation of the room. Imagine my surprise to find, concealed behind the main fireplace, a staircase leading both upwards and downwards. Naturally I was driven to explore, and taking a lantern from the kitchen table, ventured first downwards into the secret stairwell.
The bottom of the stairs came soon, and I was dissapointed to find only a locked door awaited me. I set off in the upwards direction, exiting the stairwell into the kitchen in order to refresh myself briefly, I was disturbed by the sudden entrance of General Ludd.
He demanded I come with him immediately, and I did so. He informed me that with the danger posed by the rebellious peasants outside the castle, it was best for a gentleman such as myself not to venture alone into areas known to be frequented by servants and commoners. For my own safety I agreed with him.
As we entered the dining hall, the Duke and his surviving son were waiting for me. The Duke told me he had heard of my interest in visiting the library, but cercumstances had forced him to decline me this pleasure. It appears the librarian, Jon Miller was the victim of that day's lottery, and noone had thought to ask him for the library keys before he was killed. I expressed my regrets and retired to my room alone.
I shall attempt to investigate the castle again this night.
Yours eternally,
Jamski van Helsing Esq.
It is now night again

From the Diary of Jamski van Helsing
29th of March 1854 :
Midnight - I intend to venture out tonight and discover where the upward leading staircase goes to. If I do not return, may the reader of this document take pity on my soul, and ensure that this book reaches the hands of Mina Harker.
Three o'clock in the morning - I have returned from the most disturbing scenes I have yet to experience in this place. My hand shakes as I write, but I must record this while it is still fresh. I will stick to the facts of the matter. Yes, I must be scientific in my approach.
Shortly after midnight had struck, I dressed rapidly and leaving my rooms as silently as possible made my way to the kitchens. Having no lantern, I was lucky not to stand on the sleeping form of the fish cook lying on the floor by the fire. These poor servants that have no proper quarters, not even in a stable, may God have mercy on them. Thus, in the darkness and silently, I made my way to the old fireplace and climbed the steps.
Upon reaching the head of the stairs, I was immersed in complete blackness. Holding my hands in front of my face to avoid I wandered forward till I felt a wall, then following this surface, as a blind man does, I worked my way to my right. My hands felt cold stone for what I estimated to be twenty five paces, and then rough wood. In the possibility that it was a door, I pushed at it and and was rewarded by a long slit opening by my right shoulder, though which flowed warm yellow light.
I opened the door fully and entered into what was clearly the library. But I was not alone. Two other men were here too, looking though the shelves with wild abandon.
I must have made a noise, because both men turned suddenly and spotted me. The taller of the two pointed a revolver at me and demanded I step into the light. I did as he requested, and the men relaxed visibly. Spaced Cowboy lowered his pistol, and Kassiopeia came forward to shake my hand.
The two men it seems had the same idea as me, and by some conicidence had also chanced upon the secret stairway that very night. We began to discuss the placement of the "Sang Real" while splitting up to cover the library more quickly. Suddenly the candles were blown out by a gust of wind. The window banged. Something or somebody ran past me, and I followed, going down the secret stairs. There was a shout above me, and a shout below. Everything was pitch black.
I stopped and lit a match. It appeared that in my panic I had travelled to far down the stairs, and I was now by the locked door in the cellar... but now that door was not locked, no indeed now that door stood ajar, awaiting me to open it. From the other side I seemed to hear breathing, before the sound of Kassiopeia shouting above me was heard.
I ran to help him, but it was too late. I lit a candle, and the two of us looked down at the body of Spaced Cowboy, unmarked but for two small wounds on his neck. Kassi wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, and pointed at the library door. It now stood open.
We swore not to mention the night's adventures to the castle's residents, and went each to our seperate beds.
It is now time to vote...

The clues are, as is to be expected, on their way, as you may well imagine, to those, who being randomly selected, and still being alive and therefore able still to be continuing in the playing of this game, are therefore most suitably in the position to be responsible for the recieving of those aforementioned items, such as they are, and should be eagerly anticpated by all who, rather than following the current docpile, as is so often the fashion practised by the uneducated, or should we rather say unenlightened members of this community, who prefer to solve the mystery using the good old fashioned sense of human logic.
