	S-Project: The Badge Issue Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

ok so one of the benefits that we are including in our subscriptions system is a special badge under the username, pretty much like the "admin" ones that Dan and I have


the critical question now is what should the badge say? it should not be very long as the gif is just 72x11 (cant make it much bigger as along with the larger avatar and the civgroup icons the whole space under the username gets too cluttered)

thoughts?

I'd say "Subscriber" or "Supporter" but they're both too long.

I'd pay not to have "Polytubbie" next to my name. Who is responsible for that anyway?

Looking at the badge, which currently has the 5 letters of "admin" I'd say there was room for an 8-9 letter word at the most.

well we're going to have a single subscription level for now, along with lifetime subscriptions(for which we are almost confident to put "lifer" in their badges )

In that case, you use something like:

Friend
&
Lifer

Since "Friend is 6 characters in length, there shouldn't be a problem with it fitting in the small banner.

But instead of "Lifer" have you given any thought to the word "Dedicate"? Which is 8 characters in length - it would be tight, but it should still fit. IMO, Dedicate just sounds better than Lifer.

Inmate applies to hospitals, clinics, prisons and lunatic asylums. Its perfect to extend it to the people who post here. And its the best foil for lifer too. What is a lifer? An inmate who's planning on staying a bit longer, of course.

Dammit, not only did I have one of my rare good ideas, but it was actually useful and Marko likes it.

i'm leaning towards "supporter", making it longer and puting it over the avatar instead of over the title

then again, we could look into giving the "cooler" inmate and lifer badges as options

"Inmate", "Lifer"? That makes this place sound like some sort of punishment place. Might as well add "Death Row" to it as well, while you're at it.

I like "Subscriber", it's basic and carries the right meaning.

Groupy, in the sense that, we assume some special status for ourselves just because we PAY to follow the band around. Lifer speaks for itself.

No it's not. In civilised countries patron refers to people utilising services (e.g. if you are shopping at a supermarket they refer to you as a patron, and if you're at a pub they often refer to you as a patron).
