I like the one badge theory. My only objection would be that, subscriber or not, we are all citizens of the Apolyton Community. Perhaps something that enhances the idea of community instead of dividing it?

Like I said, I don't care what Markos chooses so long as the user can disable the badge.

I wouldn't ever describe myself as a "cool guy". I play Civ games for God's sake!

Er, also what if I was a "cool gal"? Will you be changing the profiles of all members who ask to reflect their gender?

It's a nice idea, but I'd still like a nice badge - maybe in the style of the Civgroups badges, or maybe like your admin banner.
