Just stay alert when you recognise anything of this.

EDIT. An additional prediction showed three times that a messenger will come. so that makes seven times for a messenger who is to come.

Voted banana. I think we march in, take a settler or worker, pillage a tile or two, then barter for all they are worth. We have crippled them, made them our slaves, and allowed them to go into the next game, ON OUR WHIM. If, and a big if it is, we do get to the next age, we can use their UU to OUR advantage, as we will be calling the shots.

Oh, BTW, our UU doesn't really become obsolete until gunpowder and musketmen. They are a cheep shield pike for all intents and purposes.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

One thing that continues to nag at me even after we seemingly have made our choice:

We could take out CDG much easier if we just let them continue to use their poor strategy. We could climb to economic and production superiority very quickly with our excellent expansion sites and good Domestic planning. Cooperate with them up to a point, and then just completely hammer them out of existance.

If we step on their toes now and bloody their nose a bit, they may just build mil units and cause us some big headaches. If they get tied up with us in a long-term, drawn-out war, our growth and economy are going to suffer, let alone our REX.

One warrior attacks one of our hoplites, we get stuck with a golden age prior to one any of us wanting and that will do us a lot of good. This is my biggest reservation.

There are always good reasons to play it safe; that's why they call it "playing it safe"

I still think it is worth the risk/cost to either eliminate them or severly criple them to the point that they are our *****es!

Something else that troubles me.

We're building a granary now. Next must be a settler. That's 10+ turns locked up with no military builds.

We attack CDG with 2 warriors. They spot them, poprush an archer. Dispatch our warriors.

We now have only 2 mil units: Roadkill and Ares. Roadkill is forced to return home, no more scouting for him.

But before he can come back, their exploring warrior finds us and our worker exposed.

We are forced to bring our worker home and can no longer improve tiles until Roadkill returns, and even then, 50% chance we lose and they steal OUR worker.

We build settler, but we can't escort him. We need to build a hoplite.

They attack our Hoplite. We win. GA. We still haven't built our second city.

This sucks. Is this how we want our game to go? Maybe instead of playing it safe we should play it smart and rethink this agressive strategy. We're just not set up right now to fight these guys. Unless they give us an unprotected worker or two to nab, attacking these guys just isn't worth it.

If we are alone with CDG on this Continent, lets cooperate. Build and trade tech up untill they get their UU, When we are in a extremly good position to invade and take out some other backward nations. With their UU as a spearhead.

A one city GA is better than no GA.

Additionally, even if we tried to befriend them now, we have already lied to them. GK told them we were to the North. If we did decide to befriend them and partner up, it is possible that we will have to point the finger at GK and say that he gave that info independantly and against our team policy. I know that that is not the case, but it would be the only way to make repairs.

I am in favour of cooperating - the risks of a 1 city despotism GA is ridiculous and a waste - let's try to beat them economically first and then decide whether to defeat them militarily.

After reading about this Tech deal, Im am beginning to favor tech cooperation.

Why because it favors us. We obviously have bteer planning right now and a better start as evidenced by our lead in the game. Having those techs is going to benefit us before it benefits CDG.

Im leaning towards cooperation.

Or we could tell them we were afraid they'd do to us what we were planning to do to them. (Not in those words, of course. )

Suffering from ads?

Or we tell them that GK is one of those guys who never asks for directions becuase he doesn't know which way is North!

Nobody is taking into consideration that CDG more than likely does not have another unit in it's Captitol right now! They said they built a Curraph and we also know of one Warrior that is out and about (we seen him). They also said they had a Warrior near their Curraph??? That's just too many units in this time frame to have been built. For this reason I think they have an empty nest.

I think they have no units at home as of yet and are working on a settler but will switch to either a warrior or Archer as we near them. That in itself will not be enough to satify their need to protect themselves once they see TWO Warriors comming. They will HAVE to pop-rush another unit which really does the damage to them.

Do we really know what the size of our Continent is yet? Do we want to share it with one or more teams? In the PTW ISDG Apolyton sure has a lot more breathing room with CDG and GCA both missing. Somehting for you 'peacenics' to think about.

Put an end to popups!

This is emperer level. They NEED mil police. They do not have an empty capital and they definately aren't growing to size 3 with an empty nest.

A curragh (15s) would take them around 5 turns to build. A warrior around 3 turns. This is turn 18. There's a good 10 turns unaccounted for.

What Togas said.

Also, from what they were saynig, the warrior near their Curragh and the warrior we saw are one and the same IIRC. So only one warrior is accounted for.

Do we know that they do not have a Lux hooked up?

The build times you list are for how many shileds per turn? I figure at size 2 that their production levels are lower than you've assumed. Plus they had to be at size 1 for a while as well.

Since they were at size 1 for 15 turns, they may have been working a forest for 3 spt. That's 5 turns only for a curragh.

Hmm... they would have then had to go to 2 fpt, it's true. But with a warrior already well away from their capital, I think it's a safe assumption they had at least a 2 fpt, 1 shield tile by then for 5-turn warirors. They likely have 2 warriors by now.

I just ran a PBEM Sim in which Greece starts with 3 Warriors and the Vikings start with 1 Warrior and 1 Curragh. Greece is "strong" to the Vikings and conversely the Vikings are "weak" to Greece.

I set Greece to build Barracks while setting the Vikings to build a Warrior. As the Vikings complete their second Warrior both Civs become "average" to each other.

CDG definately ONLY has 1 Warrior.

CDG's plan could be to pop a settler as they grow to size 3. But, with us scouting around near them, they may shift their build to an Archer or a Warrior. If I were them I would build two Warriors if Apolyton moved any closer at all. Whether they had the time to get the second one done in time is the question.
